  17. B'resheet 33 1 Ya'akov raised his eyes and looked out; and there was 'Esav coming, and four hundred men with him. So Ya'akov divided the children between Le'ah, Rachel and the two slave-girls, 2 putting the slave-girls and their children first, Le'ah and her children second, and Rachel and Yosef last. 3 Then he himself passed on ahead of them and prostrated himself on the ground seven times before approaching his brother. 4 'Esav ran to meet him, hugged him, threw his arms around his neck and kissed him; and they wept.

  18. B'resheet 33 5 Esav looked up; on seeing the women and children, he asked, "Who are these with you?" Ya'akov answered, "The children God has graciously given to your servant." 6 Then the slave-girls approached with their children, and they prostrated themselves; 7 Le'ah too and her children approached and prostrated themselves; and last came Yosef and Rachel; and they prostrated themselves. 8 'Esav asked, "What was the meaning of this procession of droves I encountered?" and he answered, "It was to win my lord's favor." 9 'Esav replied, "I have plenty already; my brother, keep your possessions for yourself." 10 Ya'akov said, "No, please! If now I have won your favor, then accept my gift. Just seeing your face has been like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me. 11 So please accept the gift I have brought you, for God has dealt kindly with me and I have enough."Thus he urged him, until he accepted it. 12 'Esav said, "Let's break camp and get going. I'll go first."

  19. B'resheet 33 13 Ya'akov said to him, "My lord knows that the children are small, and the sheep and cattle suckling their young concern me, because if they overdrive them even one day, all the flocks will die. 14 Instead, please, let my lord go on ahead of his servant. I will travel more slowly, at the pace of the cattle ahead of me and at the pace of the children, until I come to my lord in Se'ir." 15 'Esav replied, "Then let me leave with you some of the people I have with me." But Ya'akov said, "There's no need for my lord to be so kind to me."

  20. B'resheet 33 16 So 'Esav left that day to return to Se'ir. 17 Ya'akov went on to Sukkot, where he built himself a house and put up shelters for his cattle. This is why the place is called Sukkot [shelters]. 18 Having traveled from Paddan-Aram, Ya'akov arrived safely at the city of Sh'khem, in Kena'an, and set up camp near the city. 19 From the sons of Hamor Sh'khem's father he bought for one hundred pieces of silver the parcel of land where he had pitched his tent. 20 There he put up an altar, which he called El-Elohei-Yisra'el [God, the God of Isra'el]. END

  21. Hoshea 11:7-12:12 7 My people are hanging in suspense about returning to me; and though they call them upwards, nobody makes a move. 8 Efrayim, how can I give you up, or surrender you, Isra'el? How could I treat you like Admah or make you like Tzvoyim? My heart recoils at the idea, as compassion warms within me. 9 I will not give vent to the fierceness of my rage, I will not return to destroy Efrayim; for I am God, not a human being, the Holy One among you; so I will not come in fury. 10 They will go after ADONAI, who will roar like a lion; for he will roar, and the children will come trembling from the west. 11 They will tremble like a bird as they come from Egypt, like a dove as they come from the land of Ashur; and I will resettle them in their own houses, says ADONAI. 12 "Efrayim surrounds me with lies and the house of Isra'el with deceit. Y'hudah still rules with God and is faithful with holy ones.

  22. Hoshea 11:7-12:12 Chapter 12 1 Efrayim is chasing the wind, pursuing the wind from the east. All day he piles up lies and desolation they make a covenant with Ashur, while sending olive oil to Egypt. 2 ADONAI also has a grievance against Y'hudah; he will punish Ya'akov according to his ways and pay him back for his misdeeds. 3 In the womb he took his brother by the heel; in the strength of his manhood he fought with God. 4 Yes, he fought with an angel and won; he wept and pleaded with him. Then at Beit-El he found him, and there he would [later] speak with us 5 Adonai ELOHEI-Tzva'ot; ADONAI is his name! 6 So you, return to your God; hold fast to grace and justice; and always put your hope in your God. 7 "A huckster keeps false scales, and he loves to cheat. 8 Efrayim says, 'I have gotten so rich! I have made me a fortune! And in all my profits no one will find anything wrong or sinful.' 9 "But I am ADONAI your God, from the land of Egypt. Again I will make you live in tents, as in the days of the established festival. 10 I have spoken to the prophets; it was I who gave vision after vision; through the prophets I gave examples to show what it would all be like. 11 Is Gil'ad given to iniquity? Yes, they have become worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice to bulls; therefore their altars are like piles of stones in a plowed field." 12 Ya'akov fled to the land of Aram. There Isra'el slaved to win a wife; for a wife he tended sheep.

  23. Matityahu 18:15 to end of chapter 15 "Moreover, if your brother commits a sin against you, go and show him his fault -- but privately, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. 16 If he doesn't listen, take one or two others with you so that every accusation can be supported by the testimony of two or three witnesses.l

  24. Matityahu 18:15 to end of chapter 17 If he refuses to hear them, tell the congregation; and if he refuses to listen even to the congregation, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax-collector. 18 Yes! I tell you people that whatever you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.

  25. Matityahu 18:15 to end of chapter 19 To repeat, I tell you that if two of you here on earth agree about anything people ask, it will be for them from my Father in heaven. 20 For wherever two or three are assembled in my name, I am there with them." 21 Then Kefa came up and said to him, "Rabbi, how often can my brother sin against me and I have to forgive him? As many as seven times?"

  26. Matityahu 18:15 to end of chapter 22 "No, not seven times," answered Yeshua, "but seventy times seven! 23 Because of this, the Kingdom of Heaven may be compared with a king who decided to settle accounts with his deputies. 24 Right away they brought forward a man who owed him many millions;

  27. Matityahu 18:15 to end of chapter 25 and since he couldn't pay, his master ordered that he, his wife, his children and all his possessions be sold to pay the debt. 26 But the servant fell down before him. `Be patient with me,' he begged, `and I will pay back everything.' 27 So out of pity for him, the master let him go and forgave the debt.

  28. Matityahu 18:15 to end of chapter 28 "But as that servant was leaving, he came upon one of his fellow servants who owed him some tiny sum. He grabbed him and began to choke him, crying, `Pay back what you owe me!' 29 His fellow servant fell before him and begged, `Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.' 30 But he refused; instead, he had him thrown in jail until he should repay the debt.

  29. Matityahu 18:15 to end of chapter 31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were extremely distressed; and they went and told their master every thing that had taken place.

  30. Matityahu 18:15 to end of chapter 32 Then the master summoned his servant and said, `You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt just because you begged me to do it. 33 Shouldn't you have had pity on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?'

  31. Matityahu 18:15 to end of chapter 34 And in anger his master turned him over to the jailers for punishment until he paid back everything he owed. 35 This is how my heavenly Father will treat you, unless you each forgive your brother from your hearts.“ END

  34. Today’s Joke • Way back in the time of the Samurai, there was a powerful Emperor.  This emperor needed a new head Samurai. So, he sent out a message to all the kingdom. A year passes, and only three people show up: a Japanese Samurai, a  Chinese Samurai, and a Jewish Samurai. The Emperor asks the Japanese Samurai to come in and demonstrate why he should be head Samurai. The Japanese Samurai opens up a matchbox, and out pops a little fly. WHOOOOOSH. The fly drops dead on the ground in 2 pieces! The Emperor says, "That is very impressive!"

  35. Then the great Emperor asks the Chinese Samurai to come in and demonstrate why he should be head samurai. The Chinese samurai opens up a matchbox and out pops a little fly. WHOOOOOOSH. WOOOOOOOSH. The fly drops dead on the ground in 4 pieces! The Emperor says, "That is even more impressive then the first Samurai!" Today’s Joke

  36. Then the great Emperor asks the Jewish Samurai to come in and demonstrate why he should be head Samurai. Rabbi Rabinowitz, the Jewish Samurai walks in, opens a matchbox, and out pops a little fly. WHOOSH, WHOOSH, WHOOSH, WHOOSH, WHOOSH and a gust of wind fills the room, but the fly is still buzzing around. The Emperor in disappointment and anger says, "Why is the fly not dead?" Today’s Joke

  37. And the Rabbi said to him, “A circumcision is not meant to kill.” Today’s Joke

  38. Today's Parsha is taken from our passage in Matityahu 18:15 The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  39. 15 "Moreover, if your brother commits a sin against you, go and show him his fault -- but privately, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  40. So we learn here that there is a way to handle things among the brethren. If a brother or sister sins against you, don’t bottle it up, go talk to him/her about it The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  41. Do it nicely and try to fix the situation. Be sincere. It’s not sincere if you walk up to your sister and say… The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  42. “I forgive you for being the rude, vile witch that you are.. oh and love you in Yeshua” That’s not sincere! The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  43. That’s only hurtful. You also can’t say, “I forgive you for looking at me that way. At first I wanted to run over you with my car then back up slowly, but I’m ok now.” The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  44. No! That person may not have even known they offended you. Messianics above many others lack in tactfulness. The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  45. It runs in Messianics more then any other group I know. Jews are direct to a fault. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We should be the ones to lead the way in being careful of our brothers and sisters feelings. The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  46. Of course sometimes we do need to be more direct then other times. We need to be sensitive to the situation and be discerning in how to say something to each other. The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  47. We’re not all “Communications” majors, so if someone tries to make things right with you, be patient with them. They may not know how to approach you. The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  48. 16 If he doesn't listen, take one or two others with you so that every accusation can be supported by the testimony of two or three witnesses. The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  49. This is a reference to Deut 19:15 15 "One witness alone will not be sufficient to convict a person of any offense or sin of any kind; the matter will be established only if there are two or three witnesses testifying against him. The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15

  50. So if you have a dispute and you don’t seem to be getting anywhere, take another brother or sister with you and try to talk with that person again. The Rebbe’s ParshaMatityahu 18:15
