  2. Statistics of Residents in Northern Ireland • 40% of usual residents had a British only national identity • 25% had Irish only national identity • 21% had Northern Irish only national identity • 84,300 Migrants lived in Northern Ireland (April 2011)

Northern Ireland • Portuguese, Polish, Lithuanian & other East European nationals; also some migrants from Brazil. • Almost half (48%) of migrant workers were Portuguese and (38%) were Eastern European. • In 2007 the percentage of births to mothers born outside the UK and Ireland was18% in Dungannon LGD.

  9. How cultures influence us… Advantages: • Brings various foods to our country • Experience different cultures • Opportunity to learn new languages Disadvantages: • There can be discrimination • Our culture is becoming less prominent
