  3. Description • Usually about ¾ of an inch. • Made with six big pieces of shells connected by smaller pieces of shells. • They are crusteations. • The most common barnacle. • Smooth sided, and valcanoe shaped. • They feed on plankton.

  4. Habitat Acorn Barnacles are found in temperate and cold salt water, in oceans. And live attached to any hard surfaces such as: rocks, ship hulls, oyster shells and mangrove roots. They are found from Alaska all the way to South California.

  5. 5 interesting facts • They breed in the winter, and can have up to 30,000 larva. • Have no gills, but instead cirri's (feathered legs). • Produce a brown glue to stick to hard surfaces. • Can live from 8-10 years. • Barnacles are hermaphroditic, which means they have male and female sex organs.
