Use privateers paid to capture or sink British ships. Navel Blockade of the East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico Broke British power on the Northwest frontier and secured the U.S. border with Canada. Gave hope to the U.S. Military. Broke the British-American Indian alliance. Tecumseh Tecumseh had tried to recruit the Creek into his Indian confederation. That New Orleans was a significant victory over a larger British force. A move to have New England secede from the United States and make a peace treaty with Britain. New England Federalists. The Federalists were humiliated and lost much of their power in the U.S. government. Nothing, it really just ended the war. It did not solve the problems that were the cause of the war. Nothing, except that the new nation knew that it could now defend itself from a foreign threat.
