  1. Plans for the next months B. Viaud (LAL-In2p3)

  2. Next Months: new tools At the last meeting I presented a script monitoring the variables for which a long trending is available. I’ll make it available at the pit for the Piquets. I’ll discuss with the experts of the various subsystems to tune the thresholds defining warning/alarms/fatal. I’ll also discuss to determine is something more elaborated than simply comparing values to some thresholds is necessary. Same comment about another script that produces a summary of the monitoring alarms (those presented in the DM pages) over a user-defined period (ie last night, last 24h, …) New variable: Install online 0 monitoring @ pit. Monitor other particles (ex: ) ?

  3. Next Months: Data Manager pages Mainly from O. Callot talk “Central Data Quality” (November 8th) https://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=14&resId=0&materialId=slides&confId=159865 Alarm Management: Update of the study presented early September which studied the pattern according to which warning/alarm/fatal show up. Focus on what happens while LHCb’s still in RAMP or ADJUST, to list the alarms that can be ignored in that case.  corresponding instruction to the Data Manager. Some pages might be useless (react if I’m wrong) The first DM page (see next slide) shows the SPD/PS/ECAL/HCAL merge views, as well as the barycenter of the hits/energy distribution. DM is supposed to look for holes or dips. Is there any problem that can be seen here and would be missed by automated analysis monitors like the occupancy monitor or the LED monitors ?  If not, Let’s remove that page.

  4. Next Months: Data Manager Pages

  5. Next Months: Data Manager pages Mainly from O. Callot talk “Central Data Quality” (November 8th) https://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=14&resId=0&materialId=slides&confId=159865 An ideal DM page is as empty as possible Plots like those below have already been simplified. Further improvements ? More automatic alarms in the presenter ? Possible to issue a presenter alarm whenever there’s Warn/Alrm/Fatl in those plots ? Must be able to check that there’s enough stat in the saveset, and when it was taken (to avoid undesired alarms at the beginning of a run or a fill)  Will try to see if that’s possible. Whenever it’s done, remove the plot from the DM page.

  6. Next Months: Data Manager pages Mainly from O. Callot talk “Central Data Quality” (November 8th) https://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=14&resId=0&materialId=slides&confId=159865 An ideal DM page is as empty as possible Plots like those below have already been simplified. Further improvements ? Are all the monitors above useful to the DM ? Ex: GainVariation monitor above. We know the gain varies due to ageing. We want the DM to spot “sudden” problems in the monitoring system. Is there any such problem that cannot be seen by the LED Noise of NoGain monitors above ? If no  let the GainVariationMonitoring to the Piquet. Anything else useless ? I will think about that again and contact experts…

  7. Next Months: Data Manager pages Mainly from O. Callot talk “Central Data Quality” (November 8th) https://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=14&resId=0&materialId=slides&confId=159865 Other plots in the DM page Simple plot with clear instructions in the presenter. I propose to keep it as it is. Need reference distributions -takes to survey typical runs -what instructions if the data does not match the reference ? -Is it really useful ?

  8. Next Months: Data Manager pages Additional suggestions ??
