Types of equations

Types of equations. Write a balanced formula for:. When solid aluminum reacts with an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide, it forms aluminum hydroxide in solution and an potassium solid. Al (s) +3KOH  Al(OH) 3 + 3K. Charades. I will need 4 volunteers!. Endothermic vs Exothermic.

  1. Types of equations

  2. Write a balanced formula for: • When solid aluminum reacts with an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide, it forms aluminum hydroxide in solution and an potassium solid.

  3. Al (s) +3KOH  Al(OH)3 + 3K

  4. Charades I will need 4 volunteers!

  5. Endothermic vs Exothermic • Endothermic rnx- take in heat energy (cooling) • Energy as a reactant • Exothermic rnx- these give off energy (hot rnx) • Energy as a product • Real life examples? ?

  6. Decomposition- 2H2O2 (aq) 2H2O (l) + O2 (g) To make this rnx go faster you would add MnO2 but it would not be a reactant. This is called a Catalyst  helps the reaction go faster.

  7. Single replacement 2AgNO3 (aq) + Cu (s) 2Ag (s) + Cu(NO3)2 (aq) This rnx shows Ag switch with Cu ONLY. • Double replacement AgNO3 (aq) + KI (aq)  AgI (s) + KNO3 (aq) This rnx shows the Ag and the K switch.

  8. Synthesis • 2Mg + O2  2MgO + light (energy)

  9. Extra Credit 2 ptbalance: SF4 + I2O5 IF5 + SO2
