  3. Radical Equations – the variable occurs in a root… Note: when raising both sides of an equation to an even power, always check for the validity of all solutions! Solving Radical Equations: 1. Isolate the radical on one side of the equation 2. Raise both sides to the reciprocal of the root 3. Solve 4. Check for extraneous (great word!!) solutions
