  1. Business English Writing Lesson 15 E-mail

  2. I. Leading in With the explosion of the Internet, you would be amazed at the number of companies both in China and around the words that can be accessed via the Internet and the email. Many people now find it easier to send a message to someone via email than phone call or fax. No getting stuck in hold, no more difficulty with their fax machines running out of paper in the middle of the night, and a lower phone bill as well..

  3. In just one minute, you can send your information to the far end of the world just with the cost of your internet connection. For this convenience and economy, email is employed by many business people as a communication tool. Many business transactions are done through email communication.

  4. II.

  6. III. Language Points 1. Hi, I’m the fellow who talked to you about a possible position in your company. 2. 10. V. Tips on Writing • Email Address • In order to send and receive an email message, you first have to set up your own email account, and then obtain the other person’s email address. • Email Format • The form is set up much like a memo. Most email programs have a pre-set format; • To: enter the recipient’s email address. • From: your own email address (usually automatically filled in). • Subject: enter the theme or topic of your message (be as brief as possible). • Cc (Carbon copy): enter addresses of different people you want this message sent to.

  11. Bcc (Blind carbon copy): Unlike the Cc:, however, the recipients of the message will not know if the same message was sent to them or to several people. • Attached: You can attach documents, files, and graphics. • Email Writing Requirement • Because email is meant to transfer information quickly, it is purposely informal. Some writers do mot use capitalization or much punctuation. Email also makes use of a great deal of acronyms to speed up typing, such as BTW (by the way ). • Double-check every email address before sending your message.
