OCR Nationals – Course Overview The OCR Nationals • The OCR Nationals is a flexible vocational qualification. • The qualification is entirely coursework based and is centre assessed and externally moderated. • Candidates can complete units at their own speed. • Candidates can achieve a Distinction, Merit or Pass.

  2. OCR Nationals – Course Overview Course Overview • From this year, the department begins teaching the OCR Nationals course Unit 1 in year 9 with the option to study further units in Year 10. • OCR Level 2 Nationals in ICT 06324/06325/06299/06276

  3. OCR Nationals – Course Overview Course Overview The summary below shows the intended units of study which the school will be offering. All Year 9 students will complete Unit 1. Those students who opt for a restricted ICT qualification in Year 10 will follow 6325 (more able) or 6324 (less able). Students who opt for a full ICT qualification will be enroled for 6276 and reduced to 6299 if they make slow progress. The department aims to provide a differentiated course in the near future which allows students to choose from a selection of options according to their interests.

OCR Nationals – Course Overview Unit 1 – ICT Skills for Business Candidates must demonstrate the following skills: • AO1 -Demonstrate good file management practices • AO2 -Use emails and the internet to download, send and receive files • AO3 -Use presentation software to produce a business presentation • AO4 -Create a selection of business documents using DTP/WP software • AO5 -Create and use a simple spreadsheet • AO6 -Create and use a realistic business database

OCR Nationals – Course Overview Unit 2 – Web Page Creation Candidates must demonstrate the following skills: • AO1 –Design a multimedia website • AO2 –Create multimedia webpages • AO3 –Create functioning hyperlinks • AO4 -Create interactive elements • AO5 –Create a user form for capturing feedback • AO6 –Test website • AO7 – Evaluate own website

OCR Nationals – Course Overview Unit 3 – Digital Imaging Candidates must demonstrate the following skills: • AO1 –Describe and evaluate a range of bitmap and vector images • AO2 –Plan the production of graphic images for a client • AO3 –Source and store components for graphic products • AO4 –Record sources of graphics and consider relevant legislation • AO5 –Use software to create, edit and combine graphic images • AO6 –present work to a client for a specific purpose

OCR Nationals – Course Overview Unit 4 – Multimedia Candidates must demonstrate the following skills: • AO1 – Review of several existing multimedia products • AO2 – Design a multimedia product • AO3 – Source & store suitable multimedia elements • AO4 – Create the multimedia product • AO5 – Seek feedback and suggest improvements

OCR Nationals – Course Overview Unit 6 – Spreadsheets Candidates must demonstrate the following skills: • AO1 – Design a spreadsheet to meet the needs of an organisation • AO2 – Create a spreadsheet from the design and make it user friendly • AO3 – Sort data and use simple filters • AO4 – Carry out modelling activities using a spreadsheet • AO5 – Analyse data using appropriate graphs/charts • AO6 – Create macros to automate procedures in a spreadsheet

OCR Nationals – Course Overview Unit 12 – Work Experience Candidates must demonstrate the following skills: • AO1 – Describe the structure and purpose of the workplace organisation • AO2 – Review workplace roles within the workplace organisation • AO3 – Describe how to work in a healthy and safe way in the workplace • AO4 – Illustrate compliance with standards of behaviour and presentation • AO5 – Plan tasks to be carried out in the workplace • AO6 – Undertake tasks in the workplace using appropriate skills • A07 – Evaluate performance of tasks
