Searching for meaning Sketching and rendering techniques • Draw the object in front of you and try these out: • Fine liner-do not remove your pen from • the paper until you have finished drawing the object • Marker pens to render and create backgrounds • Thick and thin line technique • Mark making to create different tones and textures • Draw on different types of paper

  4. Demonstrating understanding What makes a product ‘cool’? In teams: Make a list Look at the Alessi products Cool? Or un-cool? Choose a product Re-design it Make it cool ! Learning outcomes: sophisticated, elegant solutions showing excellent and varied communication skills. B. Wide range of imaginative and feasible ideas communicated competently. C. A range of feasible ideas drawn clearly. Literacy: use subject specific terminology

The study should include; • key dates, where they work/who for, what they have designed, • your opinions of their work and what you think has inspired or influenced them. • Complete an analysis of one of your chosen designer’s products. • Redesign the product you have analysed • (a wide range of sketches using different media) • Final design drawing of your product
