  2. BELLWORK 4/14 • What was the outcome of the Russian Revolution? • What is totalitarianism? • Brainstorm a list of ideas, terms, concepts, people, events, etc. about World War II. Try and get at least 5! • THINKER: What do you know about PROP 100? What have you heard at school regarding budget cuts and teaching jobs? List anything you know or have heard!

  3. Rise of Dictators • After WWI, Europe was politically unstable • Some countries felt the Treaty of Versailles was unfair and wanted change! • This created a desire for more radical governments. • Communism • Fascism • Nazism

Rise of Dictators • To understand the characteristics of each government in WWII, you are going to do a Jigsaw Reading. • Task: Read a section from the book and take notes to share with the rest of the class. • I will pick a leader – they are in charge! • They will read the explanation sheet and do exactly as it says. • Be able to explain the characteristics of your government! • If you have any questions….. Ask me, NOT your group.

Rise of Dictators - Discussion • This jigsaw reading also acted as a role play! • Every group was representing a different type of government in WWII. • Communism • Fascism • Nazism • As a class, we will discuss each group and create a chart on the board about the characteristics. • Fill in the worksheet as we discuss as a class.
