  5. Vocabulary Practice • Sillas Musicales • Number your lined paper (going down) 1-15 • Before we start: • Check to make sure your neighbor has: • 1 piece of lined paper • 1 writing utensil • His/her paper numbered 1-15

  6. What are 21st Century Skills? Let’s break it down… Definition: “a broad set of knowledge, skills, work habits, and character traits that are believed—by educators, school reformers, college professors, employers, and others—to be critically important to success in today’s world, particularly in collegiate programs and modern careers.” http://edglossary.org/21st-century-skills/

  7. Brainstorming… • At your table make sure you have: • 2 Pieces of long paper • At least 1 marker • With your table-mates, brainstorm a list of as many examples of “21st century skills” as you can on long paper #1. • You will have 4 minutes.

Categorizing… • On long paper #2, categorize your group’s list into the 4 categories of 21st century skills. • Challenge: After you have categorized all of the items on your list…can you think of any more to add? • 4 categories: • Ways of thinking • Ways of working • Tools for working • Skills for living in the world

  10. Float and Find • Leave long paper #2 (the chart) on display at your table. • Float to other tables and see what new ideas you can find. • Feel free to add these new ideas to your own chart.

  11. Tarea: • Be an outstanding mentee: • Turn in all paperwork on time! • 1st semester observation of colleague – due Wed. Jan. 22nd • January mentor/mentee pink log – due: Fri. Jan. 31st • Meet with your mentor! • 1st year teachers – 4 times per month • 2nd/3rd year teachers – 3 times per month • Reply to all emails within 24 hours! • Attend 2 extracurricular AK events 3rd quarter = polo shirt! • Next Mentee Meeting • 1st Year Teachers: Feb. 10 • 2nd and 3rd Year Teachers: Feb. 24
