  1. Bellwork • On a loose leaf sheet of paper, answer the following questions: • In your perfect world, how would people treat one another in the following places: • at home? • at school? • Explain your thoughts. Are there differences between your expectations for home and school? Why?

  2. Groups! Groups! Groups! • Group Roles • Facilitator • Scribe • Reporter • Spy • Task: • You will be given 4 minutes to discuss a question. • Brainstorm as many answers, regardless of their improbability, as you can, completing your role to the BEST of your ability. Write these ideas on your wipey boards. • It is ok to may have the same answers for different questions. • Report to the whole group when 4 minutes are up. • After repeating this process 4 times (there are 4 questions), we will vote on a SOCIAL CONTRACT. YAY!

Let’s Agree How To Be! • Group Roles • Facilitator • Scribe • Reporter • Spy • Task: • You will be given 4 minutes to discuss a question. • Brainstorm as many answers, improbable or not, completing your role to the BEST of your ability. • It is OK to have the same answers for different questions. • You’ll report out after 4 minutes • After repeating this process 4 times (there are 4 questions), we will vote on a SOCIAL CONTRACT. YAY!

  4. Social Contract QUESTIONS • How do you want to be treated by the teachers? • How should the teachers be treated? • How should you treat one another? (students) • What should we do in case a conflict arises?

  5. THE VOTING Let’s take a look at what we’ve got. What can we live with? What needs to be evicted? What are Ms P’s non-negotiables?

  6. The SIGNING • Make it official, you John Hancocks, you. • I encourage you to sign. If you do not feel comfortable with signing, realize that, as a contributing member of the class, you are still going to be held to the same expectations as everyone else.
