The Premise Behind BETA • While our private domestic health insurance policies usually provide us with international* coverage, they do not provide an emergency support system for people traveling abroad. • BETA is that emergency support system. It can be called an international supplement to a domestic health insurance policy. * Check with your insurance carrier.

  3. Foreign Travel Situation If, while traveling in Mexico at 3 a.m., on a Sunday morning you wake up with severe stomach pain, where will you get help? Will you be able to arrange for a physician or hospital? What if your condition requires a medical evacuation?

  4. BETA – The Issue Most people travel abroad without knowing how to access qualified physicians or medical facilities. In the face of a major accident or illness, they are unprepared financially or psychologically to deal with the crisis.

With BETA Coverage • Scenario 1: Traveling in Mexico, awakening with stomach pain…. • We immediately verify coverage and arrange for an emergency physician visit. • If appropriate medical facilities are available, we make those arrangements, if not, we arrange an emergency medical evacuation. • If necessary, we contact your personal physician and obtain your medical records. • We contact close family members to update them on your situation.

  6. The Outcome…. By Monday morning at 9 a.m., you are resting comfortably and deciding what changes, if any, are needed in your travel plans.

Emergency Evacuation Benefit$50,000 Public Plan $250,000 Scholastic Plan • Arrangements must be made and approved by Assistance company for medically necessary Evacuation to the nearest adequate medical facility. • Includes coverage for transportation, medical services, and medical supplies, if medically necessary.

  12. Repatriation of Remains Benefit$25,000 Public Plan$50,000 Scholastic Plan • In the event of death while traveling, this benefit will return your remains to your home country. Arrangements must be made and approved by assistance company to cover the reasonable expenses.

  13. Passport Replacement • The plan will reimburse expenses incurred for the replacement of a lost passport up to $250.

  14. Enhanced Benefits • Scholastic plan offers $5,000 Accidental Medical coverage with a $100 deductible and a $100 per day illness hospitalization benefit for 60 days. • Public plan offers $2,500 Accidental Medical coverage with a $100 deductible. PLUS….

  15. Air Accidental Death & Dismemberment • Up to $5,000 coverage is provided, in the event of death, or loss of limb or eyesight, while an insured person is riding on a regularly scheduled airline and provided the loss occurs within 180 days of an accident.

  16. Non-air Accidental Death & Dismemberment • Up to $1,000 coverage is provided, in the event of death, or loss of limb or eyesight, provided the loss occurs within 180 days of an accident.

Enrollment Services • Online enrollment for both group and individual • Online fulfillment – certificates of coverage available 24/7 and for a full 12 months after the expiration date – worldwide! • Online claim forms • Online cut-out-card with necessary emergency contact information for your wallet

Eligibility – Scholastic Plan • International Students, visiting Faculty, Scholars, or other who have a current passport or student visa, and who are temporarily residing / traveling outside their Home Country* or regular residence. The Insured must be engaged in full time educational or research activities outside their Home Country or regular domicile. * Home Country shall mean the country who has issued your passport.

  20. Eligibility – Public Plan • Any person who is under age 65, who has a current passport, and who is temporarily residing / traveling outside their Home Country*. * Home Country shall mean the country who has issued your passport.

Enrollment Process • Go to the BETA website: www.betins.com • On the home page click on “Enroll now” • Select correct eligibility • Answer 6 questions and complete credit card payment • You are done!! • Click on Customer Service and input your email address to obtain all documentation • For Group enrollments – Contact us and we will set that up for you in a manner that most suits your needs
