Overview of Thailand-China Trade Relations • Since the bilateral FTA between Thailand and China in 2004, and ACFTA in 2005, trade between Thailand and China continued to increase. • China + Hong Kong is Thailand’s 3rd major import country in 2007 and 2008, 2nd in 2009 and 1st in 2010 (and continue to be so during January – April of 2011) • During the last 5 years, bilateral trade increased on an average of 18.6%. The first 4 months of 2011, total trade amounts to 17,422 million USD, a 26% increase over the previous’ year figure.

Thailand Export Strategies to China • Implement proactive trade promotional activities in regions: Thailand SMEs trade exhibition road show, trade missions, goodwill mission, in-store promotion, distribution network, trade fair participation, and service trade promotional programs. - In 2011, 53 activities by the Department of Export Promotion in various regions: Guangdong, Shanghai, Guangxi Autonomous region, Yunnan, etc. • 9 Thai trade offices to assist Thai entrepreneurs in doing business in China: Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Chengdu, Nanning and Xian.

  8. Thailand Export Strategies to China • Promote and support high potential service trade eg. restaurants, education, health & beauty, spa, construction, architect, hospitality service, security, entertainment, etc. • Encourage & support Thai entrepreneurs’ business establishment in China • Expand business networking for each product cluster • Establish new business channels (eg. E-Commerce)
