Four Corner Give & Go, Stop in Front One Touch Passing Four Corner Give & Go, Stop in Front Emphasis: Passing/Receiving in Stride, Improve Shooting Angle, Stop for Rebound Offensive Players in opposite corners starts, with puck at hash mark, on the whistle, they carry the puck over blue line, staying outside of the cones, pass to a coach, breaks along boards for return pass, drives to net after he passes the cone at the far blue line and stops in front of the net for a rebound The offensive player remains in front of the net for a rebound for the next player coming from the opposite corner. Players return to line on the same side of the rink. XXXXX X O OOOOO O O O O O X X X X X O O O O X X X X One Touch Passing Emphasis: One Touch Receiving/Passing, Split Players into pairs. One player straddles a blue line, his partner straddles the red line. Practice passing the puck between partners. First on forehands, then on back hands. When receiving the pass contact the puck in front of the line and cup it back to behind the line. In one motion pass the puck back by looking at the target, your partner’s stick, and following through to the target. COACH COACH OOOOO O X XXXXX 2 on 0, Forward/Backward 2 on O, Forward/Backward Emphasis: Passing/Receiving in Stride, Mohawk Turn, Drive to Net One Offensive Players between the hash marks on the boards facing forward, the other at the top of the circle facing backwards On the whistle, the player between the hash marks skates forwards with the puck, and passes to his partner who is skating backwards. Players pass the puck between themselves down the ice maintaining stride and not over handling puck. At the far blue the player skating backwards does a mohawk turn facing the other player and they both drive to the net. O OO X XX X XX OO O 2 on 0, with Chaser O OOOOO 2 on 0 w/ Chaser Emphasis: Passing/Receiving in Stride, Drive to Net Players team up in groups of 3 of like speed. Offensive Player #1 starts with puck at hash mark, Offensive Player #2 starts on the face off dot, on the whistle, the Offensive Players skate full speed to goal at the opposite end of rink, passing the puck back and forth while in stride. Offensive Zone Puck Movement 4 on 1 Monkey in the Middle O 4 on 1 Monkey in the Middle Emphasis: Puck Movement, Moving to the Opening, Receiving/Passing in One Motion Split Players into groups of five and assign to a quadrant. The four offensive players each is assigned one side of the quadrant, they can only move in a straight line along their own side. The defensive player attempts to gain control of the puck by taking it away from one of the Offensive Players or intercepting a pass. O O X O O O O X O 3 on 1 Monkey in the Middle Full Ice Wisconsin Full Ice Wisconsin Emphasis: Passing/Receiving in Stride, Drive to Net Two lines of Offensive Players in opposite corners at the hash marks. The first player in each line starts with out a puck, skates around both cones at the far blue line. As the first player rounds the second cone the second player in line cuts behind the first player and starts up ice with the puck parallel to the first player. Players pass the puck between themselves down the ice maintaining stride and not over handling puck. At the blue line the second player passes the puck to the first player and cuts behind him around the cone. Forward carries puck around far cone and back between closest cone on the blue line and attempts to beat the defenseman one on one. Defenseman skates past near cone, executes a two foot hockey stop and transitions into backward skating, playing the forward one on one. F FFFF D DDDD First Man Forechecking First Man Forechecking Emphasis: Eliminate Middle of Ice, Angling Defensive Player starts at the top of the circle, Forechecker starts beside the cone. On the whistle the Coach will dump a puck into the zone along the boards and the Defensive Player will pivot, retrieve the puck and attempt to carry the puck outside the blue line. By angling the Defensive Player from inside to outside the Forechecker will eliminate the middle of the ice, force the Defensive Player wide and take him out along the boards.   27. 5 on 3 in Zone 5 on 3 in Zone Emphasis: One Touch Receiving/Passing, Moving to an Opening, Defensive Rotation The five offensive players attempt to keep possession of the puck by moving to openings and one touch receiving/passing to and from each other until they create a scoring opportunity. The defensive players utilize a rotating triangle formation to attempt keep the Offensive Players and puck outside of the Slot, minimize scoring opportunities and gain control of the puck. The Defensive Players must move in straight lines, and stop & start, if they loop they will get caught out of position O Low Slot High Slot O O F D O F O 3 on O SF FFFF Three on Zero Emphasis: Passing/Receiving in Stride, Drive to Net, Third Man High Middle Forward carries puck to red line passes to Outside Forward. Both forwards drive to the net. Weakside Forward slows up and positions himself in the high slot, to receive the pass from the Outside Forward and to be the first backchecker if the play breaks down. MF FFFF WF FFFF 3 on 1 Breakout 2 on 1 with Chaser DDD Three on One Breakout Emphasis: Passing/Receiving in Stride, Drive to Net, Third Man High Forwards start inside the hashmarks. A coach passes the puck to one of the forwards, who takes a few strides and passes to the Middle Forward. The Middle Forward carries puck to red line passes to the Forward that is furthest ahead. The Strongside Forward and Middle Forward both drive to the net. The Weakside Forward slows up and positions himself in the high slot, Strongside Forward reads Defenseman and passes to open man. F FFFF WF FFFF Two on One Emphasis: Passing/Receiving in Stride, Drive to Net On the whistle, Outside Forward carries puck to blue line passes to Inside Forward who passes it right back in stride. The Defenseman behind the goal line chases the forwards. Both forwards drive to the net attempting to score. His partner slides into his own corner. The center circles deep in the opposite corner, the Winger breaks off the boards to the middle lane, the defenseman steps out from behind the net and passes to the Center before the hashmarks. The Center passes the puck to the Winger in the middle lane and continues up the outside lane. The Puck Carrier passes to the Winger in the outside lane and they both drive to the net, with the weak side winger positioning himself in the high slot. Chaser starts at face off dot with his back to the net, on the whistle he pivots towards the puck carrier and chases him Players line up in same end of the rink at the opposite side. The Offensive Player is now the Chaser, and the Chaser becomes the Offensive Player O OOOOO O OOOOO X XXXX X XXXX Forwards Drive to Net, Defenseman Backwards Start, Mohawk Turn & Chase Forwards Drive to Net, Defenseman Backwards Start, Mohawk Turn & Chase Emphasis: Drive to Net, Improve Shooting Angle, Backwards Start, Mohawk Turn Forwards line up, with pucks, at the hash mark in diagonally opposite corners of the rink . Defensemen line up inside blue lines. On the whistle the forwards skate full speed down the ice outside of the cones, at the far blue line they drive to the net. The defenseman starts backwards and makes a mohawk turn toward the forward at the appropriate time to stay a quarter stride ahead of the forward but can not attack the forward until they have passed the far blue line F FFFF DDD DDD FFFF F 3 Cones, Drive to Net w/o & with Chaser 3 Cones, Drive to Net w/o & with Chaser Emphasis: Drive to Net, Improve Shooting Angle, Maintain Stride Offensive Players line up, with pucks, at the hash mark in diagonally opposite corners of the rink . On the whistle the Offensive Player skates full speed weaving between the cones, and crossing over at each cone to maintain speed. At the far blue line they drive to the net for a shot. Add a Chaser who starts at the goal line and weaves through the cones opposite of the Offensive Player so that the Chaser passes the last cone on the inside and the Offensive Players passes the last cone on the outside and drive to the net for a shot. O OOO OOO O 2 Dekes, Drive to Net 2 Dekes, Drive to Net Emphasis: Acceleration, Maintain Stride Offensive Player starts, with puck at the face off dot. He skates with speed to the first set of cones, dekes outside and accelerates around the cone to the inside. Proceeds with speed to second set of cones, dekes inside and accelerates around cone to the outside and drives to the net for a shot. On the whistle, the player between the hash marks carries the puck past the first cone, passes to his partner, cuts behind him and accelerates around the inside of the next two cones. The receiver slows down, carries puck around the outside of the second set of cones, passes to his partner and cuts behind him. Both players drive to the net. A2 Drill A2 Drill Emphasis: Passing/Receiving in Stride, Drive to Net Player at the front of the line at the blue line carries puck down below the face-off dot and passes to the first man in the line at the hash marks, turns up ice and receives a return pass, he then passes to the first man in the line at the next blue line, crosses into the zone transitioning to always face the puck and receives a return pass, he then proceeds to the red line where he passes the puck to the last man in this line, receives a return pass and drives to the net. OOO O X XX X O OO O X XXX East/West Drill East/West Drill Emphasis: Passing/Receiving in Stride, 2 Men Drive to Net, 3rd Man High Slot Player at the hash mark passes to the first man at the blue line, follows his pass around the cone, turns up ice and becomes the second man into the offensive zone. The first man at the blue line, passes to the first man at the red line, cuts behind the man, goes outside the cone and becomes the third man in the high slot. The first man at the red line carries the puck across the blue line passes to the second man across the blue line and drives to the net.
