  1. Business Plan SAAFF / SARS Working Group 2014 / 2016

  2. Introduction This is the other key section of our business plan and details the main projects that the SARS Working Group will work on. The Working Group consists of our consultants, Johan Marais, Dave Watts and Philip Wyllie , and a number of staff from member companies. This group also includes representation from the regions.

  3. Project # 1 Project Detail: Work with SARS Legal & Policy and any other SARS and Government departments as required, to provide documented practical processes to the Customs Control Bill including the Rules. Required End Result / Benefits : Understanding the Customs Control Bill from an operations perspective. Targeted Completion Date : First Quarter 2015 Responsibility : R. Hattingh , J. Marais, D.Logan and members of the Working Group as agreed.

  4. Project # 2 Project Detail: Work with SARS senior management to clarify and agree policy and accounting procedures in respect of the Deferment Model. Required End Result / Benefits : Standard Deferment Policy and Credit Model. Targeted Completion Date : Third Quarter 2014. Team Leader : J White , J Marais and other members of the Working Group as agreed.

  5. Project # 3 Project Detail: Work in with the I.T. Service Providers to SAAFF members to ensure that business processes are included in all system changes that interface with SARS Customs. Required End Result / Benefits : Business processes are considered and included in all I.T. System changes. Targeted Completion Date : Ongoing in parallel with SARS Modernisation I. T. implementation. Responsibility : S. Wood , J. Maree, D. Logan and other members of the Working Group as agreed.

  6. Project # 4 Project Detail: Analysis of tariff and VDN rulings issued Required End Result / Benefits : Communication to members in clarifying the rulings Targeted Completion Date : Ongoing Responsibility : A. de Costa, and other members of the Working Group as agreed.

  7. Project # 5 Project Detail: Analysis of our role in the AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) concept. Required End Result / Benefits : Development of a Green Lane process, Audit tools and AEO training courses. Targeted Completion Date : TBD (Mid 2015). Responsibility : J. Maree and members of the Working Group as agreed.

  8. Project # 6 Project Detail: Analysis of new SARS Legislation and Policies issued. Required End Result / Benefit : Interpretation and communication of new legislation and policy. Targeted Completion Date : March 2015 & Ongoing thereafter. Responsibility : J. Marais and members of the Working Group as agreed.

Project # 7 Project Detail: Analysis of current processes in the North / South Corridor Required End Result / Benefit : Improved processes providing faster border transit times (Green Lanes) Targeted Completion Date : November 2014 Responsibility : L. Botha, J. Maree, Prof. Alwyn Hoffman, relevant government departments and members of the Working Group as agreed.

  10. Project # 8 Project Detail: Resolution of the SAPS Border Police stops in Gauteng Required End Result / Benefits : Reduction of delays and costly stops for members’ customers Targeted Completion Date : June 2014 Responsibility : S. Wood, D. Logan , P. de Pinchart and J. Ludolph.
