  2. What is the issue? • Our topic is the UNFF which stands for United Nation Forum on Forests. The issue is forests are being destroyed, by natural and human forces. For example • Fire • Trees Getting Cut down • Erosion

  3. People deforest because they use wood for manufactured products( furniture) • Clear forests for city development • They use wood for fuel/energy • Clear forest for more farmland

  4. Mongolia is 1, 564,116 square kl. And only has 8% of forests. • Since Mongolia only has 8% of forests, there is a lack of them which is bad. Forests have many • Positive affects on life. • In Mongolia, there is a change of climate daily, and seasonally. So the climate change affects the forests.

  5. Why is deforestation bad? • Erosion- degrades soil • Trees create oxygen, so if you deforest their won’t be as much • Habitat for animals • Devastates genetic diversity • Adds carbon to the atmosphere.

  6. Protection of the Atmosphere • Since Mongolia is against, deforestation and the destruction of forests, they got more than 4 millions US dollars, to implement 5 projects in the field of population- related activities.

  7. Who is affected by the issue? • The Mongolians and animals are affected by this issue of deforestation. • “ More then 10,000 people have been educated in a variety of forest specialization and there are currently 3,000 employers in the sector.”

  8. The National Forestry Institute was established over the period of 70 years ago. “ The Parliament has made an decision to increase the export tax on wood export for industrial purposes in 1999.” In 1998, the Mongolian government came up with the National Policy of Forests for years between 1998 and 2015.

  9. Different Laws • 1. Purpose of Law- “ The purpose of this law is to regulate possession, use of land by a citizen, entity and organization, and other related issues.” • 2. Legislation on Land- “ The legislation on land shall consist of the Constitution of Mongolia, Civil Code, this law and other legislative acts issued in conformity therewith.”

  10. How is Mongolia affected by the issue? • Mongolia is affected by the issue because they have a lack of forests. Cutting down, and destroying them
