  7. Social Media Marketing – What the Finalists need to do
  8. Social Media Darling Award – New! Winning Criteria Posted at least 2 updates/7 days (1 week) to the team Instagram account, starting from 31st May. Posted at least 1 update on the day of the competition finals (5th or 6th July 2014). Quality of content posted. Number of “followers” on the team Instagram account on the final day of the competition.
  9. Tips & Guidelines Suggested content areas for posting: Document/Post the progress of the team as the team prepares for NYBC. Interesting environment-related news and information. Information related to Changi City Point, the location of the competition finals. To enhance the engagement of the content, we suggest teams rotate the content areas when posting every week. What NOT to post: Inappropriate, derogatory or potentially offensive content. Content unrelated to the NYBC or the competition location, for instance excessive “selfies” of the team members, or team members’ unrelated activities.
  10. Tips & Guidelines – Cont’d To give your team a boost in number of followers, we suggest that each team can devise strategies to encourage your schoolmates and friends to “follow” the team account. For instance, if you already have a strong following on your Instagram account, consider how you would encourage your existing personal followers to also follow the team account. Take time to plan your Instagram posts. Decide which team member will be responsible for posting the Instagram updates. Well-composed pictures accompanied by well-chosen captions can make a great impact and encourage more people to follow your team. Consider the use of mobile applications such as PhotoGrid for the composition of your photographs. Where possible, post at regular, predictable time intervals. This helps followers “predict” your post and encourages greater engagement and sharing by the followers.
