Point-of-Care Infusion Verification (PIV) Point-of-Care Infusion Verification supports the electronic transfer of infusion parameters from a Bedside Computer-assisted Medication Administration (BCMA) system or EMR to a general-purpose infusion pump, enhancing patient safety by effectively eliminating keystroke errors. • Nurse confirms 5 Rights using BCMA/EMR: • Right Patient • Right Medication • Right Dose • Right Time • Right Route Nurse removes medication from dispensing cabinet or med room Physician’s Order Pharmacist Review and Dispensing • Nurse scans bar code on the pump linking: • Patient • Medication • Pump Pump can provide data to BCMA/EMR (PCD-01 or PCD-10) Infusion order sent from BCMA/EMR to Pump (PCD-03) Patient Care Devices (PCD)
