1. Question 3 What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

2. Our film ‘Ruined’ would be classed as an independent film because it fits the criteria of this type of film rather than a mainstream film. • A reason for this would be because our film is an English based gang growing up in their surroundings and other countries such as Australia and America may not find this such an appealing film to see. So this more aimed at a niche audience. An example of a film that is more of towards a niche audience is ‘kidulthood’ as it is based in London about a London gang and their upbringing which wouldn’t really interest other places.

3. Because our film would be an independent type of film big stars such as tom cruise wouldn’t be seen, but instead upcoming stars that are maybe trying to make it big in the film industry. For example Aml Ameen started only being known for when he played a main role in the film Kidulthood as the character ‘Trife’ and is still best known for that, whereas someone like Tom Cruise is well known for many of his movies.

4. Because this is an independent type of film there would be no expensive special effect such as huge explosions that may you see in films such as films that are highly budgeted and mainstream would have expensive special effects which would make them exciting, such as most James Bond and the Bourne trilogy, so instead we would use the narrative and the characters to engage the audience.

5. Because our film is low budget our production values would be very low meaning no special effects and cheap looking filming, with a perhaps a film making who hasn’t go much experience or is unknown. Many film makers start with low budget films as away to get their selves known and prove their talent before making a bigger production.

6. Being an independent film we would not advertise our film through the TV or using billboards, but instead using the internet as our targeted audience (15-30 year olds) are more likely to go on the internet and see the adverts, also we would use festivals such as the London film festival to get our film shown and even some sort of stunt like kidulthood did when project an image on the houses of parliament.

7. If a film company were to distribute our film i would say it would be ‘revolver’ who are one of the leading independent film distributers that have won many awards. They distributed films such as kidulthood and recently the film SKET which are both like our type of film which would help get people interested if they liked the other two films by this company.
