  1. Evaluation Question 3 The Driver Myles Ahwal What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

  2. What is the difference between mainstream and independent film distribution companies? Mainstream film distribution companies have a lot more funding and therefore can provide a much bigger budget than independent companies. This affects the way they distribute their films, for example a mainstream company can afford to put adverts on TV, whereas an independent company may advertise through social media like twitter as it is free and effective.

  3. Which type is going to distribute yours? We have created our own independent film distribution company. We have done this as we believe it will give us freedom to include what we want in our film without being controlled by a larger company who would make decisions we many not agree with. It also allows creativity for original ideas which may not have been tried before as no one has had their own say and wanted to do it this way.

  4. How will your film be marketed? The kind of media institutions that would distribute the product would be online websites like Youtube. Youtube is a site where you can upload videos for free, for people worldwide to watch it. This would be a good opportunity to take, as it is a free way of advertising your videos, and a good base to share your video with other people. As well as this, we would be able to put them on certain social networking sites, such as twitter, to show the film to different audiences. We do not have a-list actors or big budget locations to use, this means it will not be instantly recognised like a mainstream film.

  5. Influences We have taken influence from other independent films which have self promoted and been extremely successful, eg, The Blair Witch Project. By taking this as an example it shows that it is possible to self promote a film and make it very successful without having the funds a mainstream film does or the a-list actors. This gives us confidence that our film will be successful in promotion as we believe we can replicate the success of The Blair Witch Project.
