  1. What is Urology? • By: Sierra in Partnership with Dr. Michael Edward Mayo

  2. What is Urology? • Urology is a medical specialty that specializes in the disorders and diseases of male and female kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate and the reproductive organs.

  3. Who are some Urologists? • Dr. Michael Edward Mayo has committed more than thirty years of his life to urology. He researched and taught about urology. He even attempted to develop a laser-driven lithotripter to annihilate kidney stones.

  4. Is there a difference between male and female Urology? • The technical name for the field of urology is Genitourinary. Most urologists provide health care for both genital and urinary systems of males and the urinary system of females. The gynecologist cares for the genital system in females.

  5. What are the most common urinary and reproductive problems in women? • Women that are pregnant or sexually active are more likely to kidney infections than women that are not pregnant or sexually active.

  6. What is the most common urinary and reproductive problems in men? • This is one example of male urinary and reproductive problems. This graph shows you that prostate diseases are much more common then kidney and testes problems.

  7. General Urinary Track Infection (UTI) • Most people, some time in their lives, suffer from a urinary track infection or some other urinary or reproductive disease.

  8. Kidney Stones • Watch this Video! • Kidney stones are hard masses that form in the kidneys. They are usually very easy to remove. If you have a kidney stone you can usually drink things that will break them down so you can let them pass through your body. If this does not work you can use lazzors that will break them into dust that you will eventually urinate out.

  9. Prostate Cancer • Prostate cancer is very common in men. The prostate is an organ in the male reproductive system. Most prostate cancers are slow growing, but some may also spread to other parts of the body.

  10. NonGonococcal Urethritis (NGU) • This is an infection of the urethra. NGU is caused by germs and chlamydia. This infection is found in both men and women.

  11. So Many Issues This is an example of one of the many problems you can have with you urinary and reproductive system. Listen

  12. All in all • So all in all Urology focuses on many different things. Men and women can have many complications in the urinary and reproductive system. Because we are in the twenty first century we are able to cure most of these issues.
