  2. Overview • Blogging helps teachers keep in touch with parents and students. • Students can use blogging as a learning tool. • There are many different sites where you can go to create a blog.

  4. Advantages • Keeps teachers and parents connected • Blogging can keep you informed of different types of information • Help develop strong relationships

  5. Disadvantages • Most people don’t have much to say or can’t express themselves in a clear manner. • Time consuming • A lot of times they are easy to start and hard to maintain.

AUP/Safety • At School • Teachers can make up a blogging contract. • Teachers can delay blogs that are being posted. • At Home • Need to have rules for your children set up. • Never offer personal information • Never post provocativepictures • Avoid trying to outpost other bloggers. • Save the website were you children blog so you can go and check it. • Screen what your kids are going to post before they post it.

  8. Reflective Statement on Assignment • It was very interesting to me to find out about blogging. I always just thought that you had to go to someone else’s website to blog. After doing this I found out that there were quite a few different places to go and make up your own site. I do feel that this could help if you needed someone to talk. I feel like the students and children could learn from each others blogs but must take extra caution when doing so.

Lessons Learned • Blogging is a very useful tool to keep you connected. • Not only can you just write a blog but there are such websites as Smilebox that allows you to make up scrapbooks and slide shows to post on your blog. • There is a site called Spellery were you can type a word and make sure it is spelled correctly. This is very important to me because I ‘m a bad speller.
