  2. In what ways are people different from each other? Height, weight, eye color, hair color, shoe size, intelligence, nose, interests, sense of humor, personality, abilities, etc.

  3. Have you ever been picked on or teased for things that are different about you? Have you ever picked on others over some trait that is different about them?

  4. Differences are Ok Differences are Beautiful!!

  5. Beauty has changed over time. Each time period in history has had a different view of beauty…

  6. Late 1800’s Women To have extra weight and to be curvy and voluptuous was a sign of good health and wealth.

  7. 1920’s Flapper Short hair was considered beautiful, flats or low heels were the norm, sleeveless shirt were newly introduced. Being thin because ideal, and women began dieting and sports/exercise became popular.

  8. 1950’s Marilyn Monroe Marilyn Monroe was the ideal woman of this era. Her body type wasn’t ultra thin; she has curves and is full-figured in sizes 10-14.

  9. 1960’s Twiggy Twiggy is the first “Waif-like” figure (underweight) to become the ideal standard for beauty.

  10. Early 1990’s Implants and Cosmetic Surgeries Focus on creating/constructing the “ideal body”. Brow lifts, botox injections, tummy tucks, gastro bypass sugery, breast implants, nose jobs, etc.

  11. Late 1990’s Fitness and Dieting The 1990 saw an increase in dieting and exercise programs

Who do you think buys this product? 4. Do you think the people who buy the product, look like the models in the ad? 5. Do you think the models in the ad actually use the product? 6. Do you think the models in the ads actually look like this or do you think their pictures have been photo-shopped or airbrushed?

  15. We all cannot look the same as the images we see. Even the models in the images aren’t what they seem. We are all unique in many different ways.Its time for us as young women to appreciate our differences and see them for what they really are… Differences are Beautiful!
