EUROPEAN CUP WINNERS CUP MEN "A"2007 IN LIBEREC History of Liberec The statutory City of Liberec – a metropolis of northern Bohemia that we cordially welcome you to visit, is located in the Liberec valley between the Ještěd ridge and Jizera Mountains. The city is located only 15 miles (25 km) away from the Polish and German borders, and 60 miles (100 km) from Prague. Liberec use to be the second biggest city in Czech Republic just after Prague. Liberec is the one of the most widespread city in the sphere of sport. Liberec has 5 Extraleague Teams: Ice hockey (HC Bílí tygři - www.hcbilitygri.cz), Soccer (FC Slovan Liberec - www.fc-slovan-liberec.estranky.cz), Basketball (Kondoři Liberec - www.kondori.cz), Volleyball (Dukla Liberec), Florbal. And of course lot of other sports.

The highest peak of Jizera Mountains – the Wysoka Kopa Mountain (1,231 yards / 1,126 meters ASL) – is located on the Polish side. The “Smrk Mountain” (Pine Mountain) (1,229 yards / 1,124 meters ASL) is the highest peak on the Czech side. The Jizera Mountains connect to the “Krkonoše Mountains” (Giant Mountains) on the east side, and they are neighboring with the “Lužické hory” (Lusatian Mountains) on the west side. The region had been declared the Nature Reserve Area in 1968 (CHKO Jizerské hory).
