Isle of Wight population: 140,500 Number of people claiming Job Seekers Allowance on the IOW (one third of claimants are aged 18 – 24 yrs) • Main employment sectors on the IOW fall within the Public Sector: • NHS • IOW Council • Other sectors include: • Hospitality & Tourism • Care work • High Spec composites • Manufacturing relating to boat building & Aeronautic manufacturing • Many businesses are SME’s & have to factor in seasonality
