Your Region and Facebook • Your Region Facebook Page is: • A great way to connect with parents, volunteers and your community. • An additional volunteer recruitment tool. • Also a way to create a wider audience for all your Region’s AYSO events: fundraising, tournaments, etc. RC - The Next Generation

Facebook Tip #1 Set up your Facebook account as a “Business Page” and not a “Personal Profile”: • No “friending”, collecting “likes”. • Special Administrator controls. • Connect with other local business Facebook pages. • Advanced moderation capabilities. • Handy records of “Insights”: How many people are interacting with your page.   10. Facebook Tip #2 Scan with your smart phone for AYSO’s Social Media Guidelines. • Stick with it: • Be responsive. Respond to posts, questions, concerns in 24-48 hrs. • Be consistent. Come up with a posting schedule that works for you and post consistently. • Be aware. You (or the designated moderator) must pay close attention to the page to ensure spam or malicious posts are not lingering. RC - The Next Generation

  11. Facebook Tip #3 • Keep Safety First • Be respectful. If a user violates your “Page Rules” remove the post. Repeated offender? Ban the user. • Be savvy. Edit your settings to ensure that foul language and spam posts will be automatically removed. • Be safe. Abide by Safe Haven’s social media policy. Important: Don’t tag minors or use their full names. RC - The Next Generation

Twitter Tips • Be a follower: Follow soccer players, local news organizations, related businesses, etc. • Be a linker: In your tweets, link back to your Region Facebook page, Region website and more. • Be Creative: Tweet with your followers about UMNT/UWNT (US Mens/Womens National Team) games, upcoming AYSO events, supporting local sponsors.   19. eAYSO • Use eAYSO to alert parents how to look up contact information for their child’s team and coach. • Include information on your website on how to fill out the Player Registration Form on eAYSO. • Background checks on volunteers are done immediately when using eSignature. • Use email blasts to contact non-returning players.   20. The Power of Email Marketing Reach out to your entire AYSO family to notify them of: • Registration dates. • Game cancellations. • AYSO promotions. • Fundraiser opportunities. • Other up-to-date Region news. RC - The Next Generation

  21. Email Marketing Tips • Sign up for an email marketing service and choose a template that works for you. • Tailor your email lists to your email topic. • Sending a Region newsletter? Create a workable send schedule. • Assign a Board position to manage Region newsletters or email blasts. RC - The Next Generation

P.S. – Safety First A note to all AYSO volunteers: please remember when logging into any private account online (Shutterfly sites, eAYSO, AYSO Training, bank accounts, etc.) while on Wi-Fi, use only SECURE connections (i.e. a connection that requires a password to access).
