  2. Course Description

  3. The overall objective of the course is to provide an understanding of the essentials of Rooms Division Management. The course is therefore intended to examine the two basic management functions of Rooms Division: Front Office and Housekeeping operations. Moreover, the course aims at helping students acquire not only the basic skills necessary for the operations, but also for management analysis. In this sense, students will be introduced to the concepts and techniques of room sales forecasting, revenue budgeting, room sales analysis, cost and profit issues, break-even analysis, and room pricing…

  4. Pre-requisites • Basic mathematical skills and knowledge of marketing concepts and techniques such as segmentation, sales and promotion, and pricing. • Knowledge of personnel management such as recruitment, training, motivation, and staff/employee management. • In-depth discussion of the human resource function or the details of recruitment and training of housekeeping staff, purchasing issues of materials, basics of facilities management, and the details of sanitation and hygiene (only fundamentals will be covered).

  6. Grading • In-Class Attendance: 5% • In-Class Participation: 5% • Assignments: 25 % • Midterm Exam: 30% • Final Exam: 35 %

(i.e.…@ug.bilkent.edu.tr) • Maximum 25% Absenteeism! • Students are required to bring a Calculator with them at all sessions of the course especially right after the Midterm Examination • Come Prepared for Chapters that will be taught! • Late Homework and/or Assignment  0 • FZ requirement : Missing more than 12 Hours and / or totalling less than 35.75 before Final Exam!
