UNCLASSIFIED Minister of Agriculture Meets Centurion • Centurion Catalyzes Collaboration • MAIL entertained and received what appeared to be unprecedented private sector agricultural initiative. • TF Centurion has been developing from grassroots relationships Afghan initiatives: • Farmer centric grape trellis training and materials distribution program. • Linking private fruit traders to fruit broker. • Facilitating fruit trader educational self-pay trip to Chile to learn current grape export. • Developing the agenda to fully utilize a top tier apple and grape consultant for 10 days. • Livestock feed production development. • Two MAIL staff appeared surprised and slightly defensive by private sector , DAIL and TF Centurion projects, but the Minister said all the projects were good and the dialog has opened how to collaborate more to take advantage of the opportunities. • MAIL now has visibility of projects which elevates transparency and accountability. • Follow-on • MAIL and Grape Industry Stakeholder Group to work together to develop agenda for Apple and Grape Farmer Field Schools for Narooz Event March 21. • MAIL wants to know more how to collaborate to develop livestock feed farms.
