A n i m a l s . By: Alexis Curd . Bottle nose dolphin. Bottle nose dolphins send messages in different ways. They squeak, whistle, and use body language. They jump as high as they can in the air. Snapping their jaws. Slapping their tails in the water and even butting heads.

  1. Animals. By: Alexis Curd

  2. Bottle nose dolphin • Bottle nose dolphins send messages in different ways. They squeak, whistle, and use body language. They jump as high as they can in the air. Snapping their jaws. Slapping their tails in the water and even butting heads. • They are found in tropical waters. • They are mammals even though they live in the water. • They are called aquatic acrobats.

  3. Cheetahs. • Fastest mammal on land the cheetah can reach a speed of 60 or 70 miles an hour over short distances. The cheetahs excellent eyesight helps it find pray during the day. When it sees pray it starts to stalk. It is hard to see when it stalks because the fur blends in with the grass and ground around it. • They eat small to medium size animals such as hares, wildebeests, calves. And gazelles .

  4. African Elephants • When you think of elephant you think of trunk. An adult elephants trunk is 7 feet long. It is actually a elongated nose and upper lip. Like most noses. Trunks are used to smell. But also for touching and grasping. • One elephant can eat about 300 pounds of food a day. • They can live to be 70 years old.

  5. Giraffes • Giraffes are the tallest animal in the world. • Their favorite food is the acacia tree. • A giraffes tongue is 21 inches long. • A giraffe can go weeks without water. • A newborn giraffe is born 6 feet tall. • A giraffe sleeps standing up.

  6. Lions • Unlike cats lions are great swimmers. • Lions may not eat for days after they feed • Lions are carnivores they eat hares and buffalo and any size animal in between. • A typical meal for a adult male lion is 15 pounds • When the lion walks the heels don’t touch the ground.

  7. Compare and contrast. • Compare- All these animals are vertebrates which means they all have a back bone. • They are all part of the animal kingdom. ______________________________________________________ • Bottle nosed Dolphin- Lives in the water. ______________________________________________________ • African Elephant- Has a trunk. ______________________________________________________- • Lion- Has a mane. _______________________________________________________--_ • Cheetah- Has spots and sometimes stripes. ____________________________________________________ • Giraffe- Has a long neck.
