  5. In our American Studies class, you will use your 8th-grade binder for many important purposes. These binders will be a major component of your American history grade. You will use them to organize ALL class materials. They will also serve as a learning tool to reference information and study for a test. • Maintaining a well organized binder all year, is vital for helping you get ready for high school!!! • American history teachers require that students decorate and prepare their 8th-grade binder in the same manner (see requirements below). You will orally present your binders by explaining or describing the various pictures, clippings, drawings. I can hook you up or • Mrs. Shields might be able to. • 1 - 3 ring clear-view binder • (meaning it has a clear front to • insert a sheet of paper) • 5 tab dividers • All About Me project: • Students may select pictures, clip art, magazine pictures, or make drawings that will tell a story about them and their family. This will be the front side of your history binder. YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO FIND & SAVE PICTURES TOMORROW IN THE LAB. • Students will decorate the back side of their history binder for easy identification of themselves and their particular class (…just in case you misplace your history binder). • Students will write or type up a short constructed response (SCR) paragraph/script for their oral presentation. Must be at least three paragraphs in length (5-7 sentences each). • The SCR should focus on your story. What are the things about you and your family that you believe are most important? • What historical events are significant to you and why?
