  2. Why is safety important in our Class?

  3. Rule 1 • Always listen to directions the first time • AND REMEMBER! • When I raise my hand, immediately stop what you’re doing, stop talking, and turntowards me.

  4. Rule 2 When doing an experiment, always wear your safety glasses!

  5. Rule 3 Conduct yourself in a responsible manner at all times

  6. Rule 4 No eating or drinking in class!

  7. Do not touch chemicals or equipment until given permission to do so Rule 5

  8. Rule 6 Dress Appropriately! • Tie hair back • No loose clothing • Remove danglingjewelry

  9. Rule 7 Report all accidents and injuries immediately!

  10. Rule 8 Know where all the safety equipment is: • Safety shower & eye bath • Fire extinguisher • Fire blanket

  11. Rule 9 If you spill any chemicals, wash it off immediately with water

  12. Rule 10 Make sure you are prepared for each lab!

  13. Cleaning Up • Turn off water and gas • Disconnect electrical devices • Put equipment back • Dispose of chemicals as directed by teacher • Clean your work area • Wash your hands

  15. Burns Apply cold water and call the teacher immediately

  16. Cuts and Bruises • Apply pressure to any bleeding • Cover w/ clean dressing • Apply cold compresses to bruises.

  17. Foreign Matter in eye Using eye bath, flush eyes with water for 15 minutes

  18. Poison Write down what you think you or your friend may have swallowed, and immediately call the teacher

  19. Spills on Skin Flush with large amounts of water, use safety shower if needed.
