  1. Department of Applied Mathematics SriVenkateswara College of Engineering

  2. Profile • The department, among the oldest, was started in 1985 when the college came into existence headed by Prof. S D Nigam, a well known mathematician.  • He laid the foundation for teaching mathematics to engineering students and set a trend which continues till today. • The department handles mathematical courses for all the branches of B.E., B.Tech., MCA and M.E. • The department conducts a national level symposium called "SANKHYA" in which students from different engineering colleges take part.

  3. Academics • The Department of Applied Mathematics caters the needs of both Undergraduates and Post Graduates Students in Engineering. • The members of the faculty handling Mathematical courses for all 10 branches of BE/BTech up to fourth semester and 8 branches of PG courses in first semester.  • The faculty actively participated in summer and winter schools, Faculty Development Programme, seminars, workshops and conferences. They also enthusiastically participated in all activities of the College.  • Members of the faculty actively involved in research activities, as on date 6 of our faculty are recognized Supervisor of Anna University to guide Research Scholars.

  4. People • The department comprises of about 14 faculty members who are well experienced and of proven ability and diverse specialization. • The faculty are actively involved in research in the areas of Fluid Dynamics, Complex Analysis, Graph theory,Stochastic Process and Algebra. • The department has the highest number of publications for the past three years.

  5. Research • Members of the faculty of Applied Mathematics are actively engaged in Research activities. • As on date 18 Research scholars actively engaged in Research activities in different research areas like Computational Fluid Dynamics, Stochastic Process, Graph Theory, Fuzzy set TheoryAlgebra, Differential Equations and Operations Research. • More than 100 articles are reviewed by our faculty for reputed International Journals • PhD Awarded : 9Registered : 18Number of Supervisors: 6Number of faculty with PhD qualification: 12 • Highest h-index : 23Highest citations : 1932 • Source: https://www.svce.ac.in/departments/applied-mathematics/
