Clothing and Individual Equipment Approval Process Approval Processes Army Uniform Board (AUB) The Army Uniform Board (AUB) is the primary review forum for clothing bag, mess, dress, service, and optional purchase uniform items. The AUB resolves issues, provides and obtains guidance, ensures that items fit the 5th to the 95 percentile, and makes recommendations to the CSA. The CSA approves the initiation of concept development and adoption of these items. The AUB will— (a) Conduct milestone reviews on new or improved items and make recommendations to the CSA (Milestone Decision Authority) for decision. (b) Review policies pertaining to the wear of new or improved clothing items. - AR 70-1 (Army Acquisition Policy) Organizational Clothing And Individual Equipment (OCIE) Clothing Bag, Dress Clothing and Optional Clothing CSA Results of the AUB are presented to the CSA approval at each milestone. ASA (ALT) AUB PEO-Soldier presents milestone reviews to the AUB. New concepts and product improvements are presented to the AUB for concept approval, POM validation and for type classification approval. Operational Camouflage PatternUniform and OCIE Update • Background and Key Points: • Apr 14 – Secretary of the Army approved transition to Operational Camouflage Pattern • 4FY15 - Conversion began; focus was on Clothing Bag items (Army Combat Uniform, patrol cap, t-shirt, belt and boots) which became available for purchase through AAFES MCSS on 1 July 2015 • T-shirt and belt transitioned from Sand to Tan 499 and boots from Sand to Coyote Brown • Soldiers who already have Flame Resistant ACUs (FR ACUs) in OEF-CP are authorized to wear them during the transition period but they will notbe sustained • Soldiers are authorized to mix and match belt, t-shirts and boots with new ACU in the Operational Camouflage Pattern and FR ACUs in OEF CP (i.e. Sand t-shirt, belts, and boots are a 'go' with new ACU and FR ACUs in OEF-CP in any combination) • New colors for t-shirt, belt, and boots are NOT authorized with current UCP ACU • ALARACT 085/2015 published 12 June 2015; includes mandatory possession date (01 October 2019) Recent Milestones or Events: • Wave 1 executed, currently in sustainment • Wave 2 executed, currently in sustainment • Wave 3 executed, currently in sustainment • ACU-F and boots rolled out in Waves 2 and 3 • CIIP introduction executed, currently in sustainment • NGB/USAR executed beginning April 2016 • Defense Logistics Agency-Troop Support (DLA-TS) is producing sufficient quantities to execute conversion IAW Army schedule and requirements Issues:None at this time Program Schedule and Status: • Design Changes:ACUs are available with new design changes in the Operational Camouflage Pattern version: • Lower calf pocket will have a single button and no Velcro • The mandarin collar on the top is replaced with a lay flat collar similar to old BDU/ current USMC collar • No draw string in trousersThe shoulder pockets have been redesigned w/no • Flap and has side zipper opening • Pen pockets on left sleeve are reduced from three • to two Lower Leg Pocket Upper Sleeve Pocket Cargo Pocket
