ZAMBIA Ethanol case • Zambia market: • Gasoline consumption: 250 million liters year; • Market price, gasoline per liter:USD 1.80; • Estimated price for local market, Ethanol per liter: USD 0.75; • There is an energy policy, which includes the introduction of biofuels into the national fuel matrix. • Project: Ethanol • Region: Central Province. • Area: 25,000ha; • Milling: 2 million tons of sugarcane per year; • Ethanol production: 170 million liters per year; • CAPEX (agricultural & industrial): USD 450 million; • IRR: 22%
