  1. THE PLAN.

  2. What we know. • Video gaming is a habit • Word of mouth is the most trusted • The genre of Fighting Games is dying out. • College kids prefer to play RTS, FPS, or RPG • SSB is the only popular fighting game, mostly due to high awareness, user-friendly gameplay, and wide ownership base

  3. Recommendation? • Brand Initiators • Make sure that their first contact of gaming in college will be with fighting games • They won’t be doing large events, that’s more on the scale of big releases. • Instead, their role is to hammer in the habit playing fighting games.

  4. Where will we get them? Set up booths at large beginning-of-the-year events (ie: Caltopia? Calapalooza?) Post on Callisto. Post around dorms Simply get the word out about this internship in the gaming industry.

  5. Responsibilities? • Primary: Dorms • Hire multiple initiators • Each initiators has an effective range of a floor above, their own floor, and the floor below. • Maximum range is within their building. • Their only role is to hold regular gaming nights and gatherings in their room. • Maybe once the year progresses and a lot of people are involved, hold a building competition.

  6. Why is this more effective? • Previously , we focused on people who abandoned the genre as they grew up, and we only hoped to reintroduce them to it. • However, we can reintroduce it to them once, but who will they play with later on? • Our key here is to build the initial community of fighting gamers. • Once we do that, we can then introduce/reintroduce people to the genre • Possible Scenario: • 2 years down the line, Billy is introduced to MvC for the first time on a campus event. He then likes it, but wont go out to buy it. However, he goes to a friend’s apartment and see that his friend is playing MvC. This will allow him to find a community that is already playing it and they can further hammer in the habit.

  7. They are NOT brand ambassadors. Brand ambassadors simply go around holding events hoping to introduce people to the product. But gaming doesn’t work that way, its habitual Therefore, we need initiators to go in and work on a small “class” of students, hoping that they’ll become the next generation of fighting gamers at Cal.
