  3. IN-TEXT CITATIONS • Author not named in a single phrase Ex: Although the baby chimp lived only a few hours, Washoe signed to it before it died (Davis 42). * Maintain this pattern for a single work written by one, two or three authors.

  4. IN-TEXT CITATIONS • Four or more authors Ex: The study was extended for two years, and only after results were duplicated on both coasts did the authors publish their results (Doe et al. 137).

  5. Two or more works by the same author Include the title of the work in either a single phrase or in abbreviated form in the parenthetical reference.   6. IN-TEXT CITATIONS • Corporate Author - Name the corporate author in the single phrase or parenthetical reference. Ex: The Internal Revenue Service • Unknown Author - Use either the complete title or a short form of the title in the phrase or parenthesis • Authors with same last name -Simply include the first name of the author in all your citations

  8. IN-TEXT CITATIONS • A work in an Anthology -Use the name of the author, not the editor of the anthology An Indirect source – When a writer’s or speaker’s quoted words appear in a work written by someone else begin the citation with “qtd. in.” Ex: (qtd. in Toner 24).
