  3. What is 'Marketplace'? • Purchase digital titles with the ease and speed of an online bookstore. • It's easy! Add titles to your cart, and submit your purchase order.

  4. What formats are available? Each OverDrive partner chooses from … • eBooks: A text-based digital book. EPUB / PDF. • Audiobooks: A recorded reading of a book. WMA / MP3. • Music: A CD that is digitized. • Video: A DVD that is digitized.

  5. Format abbreviations • Audiobooks • OAB (= WMA format) Some include burn permission. File size is 50% of MP3. • OMA (= MP3 format) Wide compatibility. • eBooks • EPUB (= Adobe EPUB eBooks) Text can be resized, and 'reflows'.Wide compatibility. • PDF (= Adobe PDF eBooks) Text is fixed, but can be zoomed. • Music: ODM • Video: ODV Plays on: Plays on: Plays on:

What licensing models are available? • One Copy – One User • Purchase a title, and a copy of that title is added to your digital collection. • When a user checks out a title, a copy is removed from circulation. • Users may request a checked out title by placing a hold. • Selectors may purchase additional copies of popular titles. Maximum Access • Annual subscription. • One copy is available for unlimited simultaneous checkouts. • Titles will always be available. • No need for holds. Maximum Access titles

Custom Collections on Shared Websites Use your Advantage account to … • Reduce waiting lists: Add more copies of popular titles to reduce waiting lists for patrons at your library. • Create a custom collection: Develop a collection of titles that is not part of your shared collection. • Continued access: Provide access to both the shared collection and the custom collection on the same download website. Who can participate? Any library that is currently a member of an OverDrive-powered shared collection. How do we sign up? For more information, email us: sales@overdrive.com.

  9. Alerts Watch for helpful alerts! Consortia with Advantage Libraries: First number is based on copies owned by all Advantage libraries, and the second is for copies owned by the consortium.

Enhanced Titles and Public Performance • titles: These titles include supplemental material such as liner notes or mobile versions of a video title. • While browsing, click on the 'Enhanced' text to learn more. • Public Performance Permitted:Video titles with this notation are licensed for viewing with a group in a public place, such as a classroom or church setting. Titles without the 'public performance' designation are licensed for home and personal use only. This information will also display on your public facing Virtual Branch website. Note: Titles with public performance permission may not be available in all countries.

  12. #1: Involve Your Staff Action Item: To schedule staff training, contact training@overdrive.com. • Library staff offer a key to success. • Invite staff to sign up for ContentWire. • Allow interested staff to create their own lists in Content Reserve. • Create a Suggestion Box on your website. • Encourage staff to help design and implement user surveys.

  13. #2: Purchase from Suggested Title Lists Action Item: Try browsing a Suggested Title List, and select titles. • No guess work! Let our collection team find the best sellers for you. • Check out the 'Marketplace' homepage, tab features, and best sellers. • Updated weekly, so check our Suggested Title Lists often!

  14. #3: Add AudioFile Reviews Action Item: Go to Content Reserve Homepage > Premium Reviews. • Watch for AudioFile reviews in Marketplace: • AudioFile magazine is devoted to audiobooks, with more than 100 audiobook reviews in each issue. • You can add these reviews to titles on your Virtual Branch website for free! • Over 23,000 audiobook reviews are available. New reviews are added regularly. Go to Content Reserve Homepage. Select 'Premium Reviews'.

  15. #4: Add Local Content Action Item: Contact your Project Manager for more information. • OverDrive Community Reserve is a digital resource sharing service that enables participating libraries to upload, protect, and share download titles. • Suggested content: Local historical documents, educational materials, locally produced video or music, or anything that will benefit users. • Benefits: Increases the value of your collection. Checkouts count as circulation. Music Video eBooks Audio Add free content from other libraries. Upload your own content.

  16. #5: Subscribe to a Maximum Access Plan Action Item: Make titles Always Available with Maximum Access. • Always Available. No waitlists, no holds! • Choose your supplier and subscription level. • Some subscriptions offer unlimited titles for one price. • Refresh the collection. Swap out a percentage of the subscription with new fresh titles. • Many Maximum Access titles are high circulating.

  17. #6: Start a Download Standing Order Plan (DSOP) Action Item: Set up a DSOP from the Quick Link in 'Marketplace'. • What is DSOP? • DSOP is an automated way to add bestsellers to your collection every month. • Why sign up? • You don't have to search for the biggest books. • Front list titles are added to your digital collection months in advance. • Tailor DSOP to fit your monthly budget needs. • How do we get started? • In 'Marketplace' go to the 'Quick Links' box, and select 'Download Standing Order Plans'.

  18. #7: Set up Holds Manager Action Item: Set up Holds Manager from the Quick Link in 'Marketplace'. • What is Holds Manager? • An automated way to fill digital holds. • Why sign up? • No searching or running reports. • Holds Manager does the math for you. • You can tailor a plan to your budget needs and holds ratio policy. • How do we get started? • In 'Marketplace' go to the 'Quick Links' box, and select 'Holds Manager'.

  19. #8: Reach More Users with Multiple Formats Action Item: Contact collectionteam@overdrive.com for help. • A diverse collection attracts more users. It's as easy as placing an order. • Audiobooks: • OverDrive's highest circulating format. • Compatible with many devices. • eBooks: • A great value! eBooks are an easy and inexpensive way to improve circulation. • Romance titles are popular. • Video: • Every video includes a mobile version, optimized for mobile devices. • Documentaries, feature, children's, etc. • Music: • Save money on CD replacements. • Expand your user base.

  20. #9: Review Reports Action Item: Contact training@overdrive.com for help with Reports. • Activity Charts • See popular titles and make informed purchasing decisions. • Turnover Rate Charts • Compare circulation activity to turnover rate statistics. • Current Waiting List / Waiting List History • Compare your library's current waiting list to the waiting list history to see if a title has been 'in demand' over time. • Install OverDrive Dashboard • A desktop application that provides quick access to real-time data from your Virtual Branch.   22. Workflow & Invoicing Options

Selection Committees • Are you leading a selection committee? • Use the 'Collection' tab to help manage workflow for all your account users. • Continue Work: View all orders for your account, merge, and submit P.O.s. • Maximum Access: View, manage, and submit Maximum Access orders. • Clear Work Queue: Delete select lists (carts) from your account. Content Reserve > Collection tab > Content Reserve Collection Tools.

User Rights • User rights can be used to help facilitate workflow for the library's selectors. • SL (Submit List) & DL (Delete List): • We recommend only users who have final content approval should be assigned SL (Submit List) and DL (Delete List).  • MU (Manage Admin Users): • This permission should be restricted to one or two staff. It allows a user to create additional logins and potentially enable additional permissions.  • OverDrive Community Reserve: 'Local Collection' and 'Manage Collection' rights are needed. • For more information, go to:Content Reserve > Support tab > User Rights Documentation. Consortium Invoicing: Selectors submitting orders for a single location. • Instructions: Complete the following setup for every selector who will be submitting purchase orders for a single location. • Go to: User tab > Add new user. • Create the user account, and be sure to assign the SL (Submit Select List) user right. • Enter the location name to be invoiced into the 'Description' field. • Example: If a librarian from Westville submits purchase orders on behalf of Westville only, type 'Westville Public Library' in the 'Description' field. Content Reserve > Users tab

Consortium Invoicing: Selectors submitting orders for multiple locations. • Instructions: Complete the following setup for every selector who will be submitting purchase orders on behalf of multiple locations. • Go to: User tab > Add new user. • For the first location, create a user account, and include the following: • Add the location name to the login ID sequence. For example: consortium.lib.librarian_Westville. • Be sure to assign the SL (Submit Select List) user right. • Enter the location to be invoiced in the 'Description' field. • Repeat the steps above for each additional location to be billed.   27. How to Place a Purchase Order

  28. STEP ONE: Login to Content Reserve • Open Internet Explorer. • Go to: www.contentreserve.com. • Click the Login tab. • Enter your Login ID / Password. • Click 'Login'. • In Content Reserve, select the 'Marketplace' tab. QUICK TIP:If you prefer to purchase titles using the standard collection tools, select the 'Collection' tab.

  29. STEP ONE: Login to Content Reserve • QUICK TIP:Make 'Marketplace' your Home Page for Content Reserve. • From the Home tab of Content Reserve, select 'Manage User Information'. • Under the Start Page dropdown, select 'Marketplace'.

  30. STEP TWO: Browse or search • Browse or search for titles using any of the following options: • Featured Publishers. • Featured Lists. • Shop Now. • Browse by Subject. • Maximum Access. • Quick Search. • Advanced Search.

  31. STEP TWO: Browse or search • Sort any results list by: • Title. • Creator. • Date Published. • Date Available. • Publishing Info. • SRP. • Holds. • Hold Ratio.

STEP TWO: Browse or search • Title details: View title details by clicking on any title cover. • Creator(s). • Format. • Awards. • Excerpt. • Short Description. • Reviews (when available). • Digital Rights: • Click 'View format details' to view. • The pop-up will explain the permissions for the title after download. For example, burn to CD, copy / paste, and print.

  33. STEP TWO: Browse or search • Locate a specific title quickly: • Quick Search:Search on a creator's name, title, or ISBN. • Advanced Search: Create a more specific search with options shown to the left.

  34. STEP TWO: Browse or search • Return to the 'Marketplace' Home Page anytime by clicking on the 'Shopping Home' icon.

  35. STEP THREE: Add titles to your cart • Enter the number of copies to purchase. Then click 'Update Cart'. • Or, select one of the other 'Update' options: • 'Edit Cart Units for All Results'. • 'Update Cart Units for This Page'. • View your cart at anytime by selecting 'View Cart'. Or click the 'View Cart' icon.

  36. STEP FOUR: Complete your purchase order • To complete your order, click the 'View Cart' icon. • Edit Select List Name: Option to assign a custom name to your purchase order. A naming convention is recommended. • Create Worksheet: Option to export your order to an Excel Worksheet for easy printing or to email as an attachment. • Remove Titles: Select titles you wish to remove and click 'Remove Titles'. • Complete P.O.: This will submit your selections to OverDrive as a purchase order. Confirm your order – all sales are final. If confirmed, you will be given the option to attach an 'Internal purchase order ID' to your purchase order.

  37. STEP FOUR: Complete your purchase order • To confirm that your order was submitted successfully, click the 'Reports' tab. • Then select 'View Purchase Order History'.

  38. STEP FIVE: Titles become available for download • Once your purchase order is submitted, titles are added to your download site within 24 hours.

  39. How to Subscribe to a Maximum Access Plan

  40. STEP ONE: Open a subscription • To begin: • Select a publisher from the Maximum Access links on the Home Page of Marketplace. • After the Max Access results pages opens, select 'Shop Max Access'. • Under 'Start a new Maximum Access subscription', select a subscription level. • You may also: • Continue work on an existing subscription. • Delete lists from your work queue (depending on your user rights).

  41. STEP TWO: Add titles to your subscription • Next, add titles to your subscription. • Content Reserve will automatically calculate 'Total units' and 'Units remaining'.

  42. STEP THREE: Complete your purchase order • To complete your order, click the 'View Cart' icon. Then select 'Click here to view your Max Access shopping cart'. • Edit Select List Name: Option to assign a custom name to your purchase order. A naming convention is recommended. • Remove Titles: To remove titles, click the 'Remove' link next to the title(s). • Complete P.O.: This will submit your selections to OverDrive as a purchase order. Confirm your order – all sales are final. If confirmed, you will be given the option to attach an 'Internal purchase order ID' to your purchase order.

  43. Reports Overview

  44. Reports • Many reports are available! • Current Waiting List: View titles currently on hold. • Purchased Title Report: View all titles owned plus checkouts, holds, and turnover rates for each title. • Activity Charts: View borrowing activity. • Digital Library Statistics: View summary statistics including titles, checkouts, holds, and borrowers. • Traffic Reports: View traffic reports for your digital collection.

  45. Download Limits / Reactivation • A user may report a download error: • If the user is still within the lending period, then they have probably maxed out the allowed number of downloads. • OverDrive Audio Titles: 3 downloads of the license. • OverDrive Video: 2 downloads of the license. • A license for a checked out title is downloaded when a user clicks the 'download' button. • Have the user send their library card and the title to the support address on the main Help Page.

  46. Download Limits / Reactivation • The library's support team can reactivate a download link. • Login to Content Reserve. • Go to Reports Tab > Search Checkouts. • Enter the library card number.The 'Checkout Details' page appears. • Click 'View' next to the title to reactivate. • Under 'Reactivate Checkout', click 'Reactivate'.
