  2. Why Do I want this Career • I want this career because I want to hone my cooking skills. This career will help me with becoming the head chef of my own restaurant

The Requirements of Being a Chef • Earn a certificate of a two- or four-year degree. • You must spend a few years gaining experience in the kitchen before you meet the requirements to become a chef in a higher-level position. • You will need to have a sense of cleanliness because kitchens must adhere to the strictest of health codes and requirements. • You may also find it useful to know a foreign language since many restaurant staff members are international. • You have to be passionate about your cooking and the food you create.  The culinary arts field is one of those areas in which a person’s enjoyment of their job is truly reflected in their work.  If you're passionate about cooking, your enthusiasm will show through the quality of the dishes you create and prepare.

Reasons why I like this profession • I would like to learn to create foods from other countries such as Japan and India. • I want to see the happy faces of the people who try my cooking. • After I get my degree in the Culinary Arts, I wish to create my own restaurant where people can try my food. • I would like to make some interesting foods also, from apple pie to curry you name it I make it!!!

Some other interesting Information • Salary for both cooks and chef and go from $40,000 to even $80,000 annually. • No matter what kind of chef you are (except maybe fast food) you will always be hired. • Unlike most jobs, the workers are usually always fun to be around and since the job is not as “serious” as most jobs you don’t have to take it home with you (unless you’re working on a new creation). • You can also go to different places around the world to learn new recipes (as long as you know their language)
