  2. Eleanor Roosevelt By Zoe Eleanor Roosevelt is a very important person in American history. She was born in New York City. Her birthday is October 11, 1884. She is famous for becoming our country’s first lady. She was married to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She is important because she became a delegate to the United Nations. She wanted equal rights for all people. She was a leader for women. Eleanor Roosevelt died on November 7, 1962, but we’ll always be remembered as a teacher, writer, and so much more.

  3. Daniel Boone By Joey Daniel Boone is a very important person in American history. He was born in Exeter, Pennsylvania. His birthday is November 2, 1734. He is famous for fighting. He helped settlers learn to survive in the forest. He is important because he fought the Indians and explored the woods in Indiana and Kentucky. Daniel Boone died on September 26, 1820, but will always be remembered.

  4. Sue Hendrickson By Caileigh Sue Hendrickson is a very important person in America history. She was born in South, Dakota. Her birthday is December 2, 1949. She is famous for being a paleonlogist . She is an important person because she discovered Dinosaur Sue, which was a Tyrannosaurus rex. The special fossil is at the Field Museum in Chicago . These are why Sue Hendrickson is a famous American.

  5. Benjamin Franklin By Avery Benjamin Franklin is a very important person in American history. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His birthday is January 17, 1706. He is famous for making candles and soap. He discovered electricity in lightning. He helped our country. He helped write the Declaration of Independence. Benjamin Franklin died on April 17, 1790, but will always be remembered as a leader in our country.

He is famous for giving speeches about his dream that everybody would be equal. He is important because he led a peaceful march. He led a bus boycott. He was a pastor and he won a Nobel Peace Prize. Martin Luther King Jr. died on April 4, 1968 but will always be remembered as a man who wanted freedom for everyone.

Her art makes people think of history and nature. She is important because she made a design. It was for the Vietnam War. These are the reasons why Maya Lin is famous American for her designs and art.

  8. Pocahontas By Audrey Pocahontas is a very important person in American history. She was born in Virginia. Her birthday is between 1595 and 1596. She is famous for bringing peace between the Powhatans and the English and saving Captain John Smith. She is important because she helped the English colonists by giving them food. Pocahontas married Thomas Rolfe. Pocahontas died in March of 1617, but will always be remembered as a brave woman.

He is famous for making the kinescope which showed the world’s first movies. Thomas Edison died on October 18, 1931. He will always be remembered as a great inventor.

  10. Ruby Bridges By Yakira Ruby Bridges is a very important person in American history. She was born in Coweta County, Georgia. Her birthday is on September 8, 1954. She is famous for showing courage. She was the first African American to attend an all white school. She helped end segregation. Ruby Bridges is a famous American for standing strong.

  11. George Washington By Xavier George Washington is a very important person in American history. He was born in Popes Creek, Virginia. His birthday is February 22, 1732. He is famous for becoming the first President of the United States of America. He was the head Commander in chief in the Virginia Army. George Washington died on December 14, 1799, but will always be remembered for his bravery.

  12. Abraham Lincoln By Thomas Abraham Lincoln is a very important person in American history. He was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky. His birthday was February 12, 1809. He is famous for leading our country during the Civil War. He was the 16th President. He is important because he fought for something he believed in. He helped free slaves in the United States. President Lincoln died April 15, 1865, but will always be remembered for helping all people.

She is famous for being a person who helped make changes and a leader. She was first blind and deaf person to graduate college. She is important because she gave speeches about peace and equal rights. Helen Keller died on June 1, 1964.

  14. Alexander Graham Bell By Ryan Alexander Graham Bell is a very important person in American history. He was born in Scotland. His birthday is March 3, 1847. He is famous for helping start the National Geographic Society. This society is still around today. He is important for inventing the telephone. Alexander Graham Bell died on August 2, 1922 at the age of 75. He will always be remembered for inventing the telephone, so you can always call Mom.

He is famous for making the world a better place. He wanted black people to be treated fairly. He is important because he tried to change the laws in a peaceful way. Martin Luther King Jr. died on April 4, 1968 but will always be remembered for his “I Have a Dream” speech.

She is famous for becoming a leader in education. She spoke about rights for all people. She is important because she started a school in Daytona, Florida with only $1.50. Her school grew into a college. Mary McLeod Bethune died on May 18, 1955, but will always be remembered as a teacher and a worker for equal rights.

  17. Helen Keller By Lilly Helen Keller is a very important person in American history. She was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Her birthday is June 27, 1880. She is famous for making speeches and helping soldiers that were injured. She kept trying to help people with disabilities. She changed the world for people who were unable to hear or see. Helen Keller died on June 1, 1968. She will always be remembered for her hard work.

  18. Rosa Parks By Lauren Rosa Parks is a very important person in American history. She was born in Pine Level, Alabama. Her birthday is February 4, 1913. She is famous for standing up for equal rights for everyone. She took a stand by sitting on a bus this lead to a peaceful boycott that helped change unfair laws for African Americans. Rosa Parks died in 2005 at the age of 92. She will be remembered for helping change unfair laws.

  19. Harriet Tubman By Katelynn Harriet Tubman is a very important person in American history. She was born in Maryland. She was born around 1831. She was famous for helping take slaves to freedom using the “Underground Railroad.” She was important because she gave speeches about antislavery. She was even a spy in the Civil War. Harriet Tubman died on March 10, 1913. She will always be remembered for her courage, strength, and fierce devotion to the freedom of all people.

  20. Alexander Graham Bell By Jasiah Alexander Graham Bell is a very important person in American history. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. His birthday is March 3, 1847. He is most famous for inventing the telephone. He invented the iron lung to help people breathe. He also invented electric the speech machine. Alexander Graham Bell died in August of 1922, but will always be remembered as a great inventor.

  21. John Chapman “Johnny Appleseed” By Jake John Chapman is a very important person in American history. He was born in Leominster, Massachusetts. His birthday was September 26, 1774. He is famous for caring for animals. He was import because he was the first one to plant apple trees in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana. John Chapman died between March 17 or 18, 1845 and was buried in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He will always be remembered by the stories told about him.

  22. Henry Ford By Gage Henry Ford is a very important person in America. He was born in Wayne County, Michigan. His birthday is April 30, 1863. He is famous for creating the assembly line. He made the Model T car and opened the Ford Motor Company on April 7, 1947. He will always be remembered as making cars that people could afford.

  23. George Washington Carver By Gabe George Washington Carver is a very important person in American history. He was born in Diamond Grove, Missouri. He was born in 1864. He and his family were slaves. He is famous for discovering many uses for peanuts. He was the first African American to go to Iowa Agriculture College. He is important because he taught farmers about crop rotation. George Washington Carver died in January 5, 1943 but will always be remembered for his many inventions and making people happy.

He is famous for becoming the 44th President of the United States. He is important because he is the first African American to hold this office. These are the reasons why Barack Obama is a famous American. He also won a Nobel Peace Prize.

  25. Thomas Jefferson Mikey Thomas Jefferson is a very important person in American history. He was born in Albemarle County, Virginia. His birthday is April 13, 1743. He is famous for being the third president of the United States. He is important because he wrote the Declaration of Independence. This document declared the United States would not be part of England. He also invented storm windows and a special part for a plow. Thomas Jefferson died on July 4th, 1826 but will always be remembered as a great leader.

  26. We would like to thank Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Ray, and Miss Ellen for helping make this project possible. We would also like to thank the people that help us each day at Crisman School. Through our study of biographies, we have learned that there are heroes all around us. We have discovered that we can all be heroes!
