  2. What freshman should know… • Allows students to save all their sources in one location • RefWorks creates citations quickly and easily in many different formats • Ex. MLA 7th Edition, APA 6th Edition, etc.

  3. How to use RefWorks • Start at Library Home Page to the right of “subject guide” scroll menu click “RefWorks login” • Click on sign up for individual account • In order to sign in off campus enter “RWStCloudSU”

  4. Putting Sources on RefWorks • Find article in database • If you find multiple articles add each article to folder by clicking “add to folder” • To add article(s) to RefWorks click “export” • Next you will be taken to a new page where you click “direct export to RefWorks”make sure to click “save” button to the left

Citing with RefWorks • Used to keep sources organized use folders in RefWorks. • To create a folder click on “folders” and scroll down to “create new folder” • To access items you just exported to RefWorks click on “view last imported folder” • Click the boxes for each item you want to move from your last imported folder to your new folder • Click on the “add to folder” tab use the drop down menu to choose folder

  6. Citing with RefWorks Cont. • Using the toolbar on top of the page open bibliography menu and select “output style” • Output style is APA, MLA, etc. • Select word processing file type • best file type to use is Word • Select references you’d like a bibliography for • Click “create bibliography” • Your finished citation will automatically download or give you the option of downloading and saving

  7. Proper use of RefWorks • While RefWorks is a useful and reliable source make sure to look over finished citation for obvious errors • RefWorks will save you a lot of time and effort through out college • Having all sources in one place that is easily accessible from any computer makes RefWorks the most important tool the Library offers • Automatic citations in proper format save you memorization and time 
