  1. AP –PLANTS!

  2. 1st period task list 5/14 • What’s the status of the plants? Who’s alive? • Find original measurements • What will graphs look like? Data means what?

  3. 1st Period Task List for 5/15 • Separate plants & begin to dry them so a dry biomass can be taken • Red Cups • Plant Friday; but seeds aren’t developed yet?!?! • Plan new experiment • Variables, hypothesis, predictions • What was supposed to happen??

  4. 1st period 5/16 Tasks • Poster Brainstorming: • Materials & Methods • H0 and H1 • Generally Summary • Graphs • Data Analysis : chi-squared, SEM, SD • Generation of fake data? • What really happened? What was supposed to happen? • Description of Variables, Constants, Control • Explanation of Error (connected to data analysis) • Define (new?) variables • i.e. watering system, not bags • Create hypothesis • Plant today • Clean Up • Dry Biomass

  5. Lilliendahl 1st period students:  if you need to complete an aspect of the lab before the weekend please do so.  Please try to come after school or during study hall today.  Remember, you will be in the library on Monday, not the classroom.

  6. 7th period Task List for 5/14 • What are the requirements for the “poster”? • YOU need to generate them; MrsLil will confirm • What does a good scientific investigation entail? Communicate that!!! • Regroup • How to ensure plant success? • What/Who was successful and why? • What’s the data going to look like?

  7. 5/15 : 7th period task list WITHIN GROUPS: • Step 1: gather seeds • Start to germinate seeds with water & paper towel • Research plants’ needs • Step 2: determine best environment for F1 • (Same as parent) • Step 3: Find data from parent generation! • Overall data analysis: • Expected  avg data from control group • Observed  data from F1 generation

  8. 7TH Period Poster Req’s • Variables: Independent, Dependent • Control • Why did the plants die? • Hypothesis • Charts & Graphs! • Chi-squared, sd, sem • Pictures • Describe experiment • Why/How does experiment demo natural selection?
