  2. Purposes • Exchange successful experiences and problems encountered • Seek solutions to improve programs and the field • Begin to establish a network of immersion programs for schools and teachers to share resources, raise issues, discuss problems, explore solutions, and showcase successes

  3. National Picture: Need • Sustainable growth of Chinese immersion programs • Coordination of efforts • Sharing of resources, expertise, and experiences • Research on the learning, teaching, and assessment of Chinese immersion programs • Support for schools and teachers

  4. Roundtable Topics • Curriculum, Articulation, and Assessment: Jeff Bissell, Chinese American International School • Materials, Technology, and Resources: Maquita Alexander, Washington Yuying Charter School • Staffing, Teachers, Preparation, Certification, Retention, and PD: Daisy Chan, San Francisco Unified School District

  5. Format and Time Roundtable Discussions: • The facilitator will stay at his/her own table • Each table discussion is 30 minutes long • You may participate in up to two tables • Select a recorder to take notes • Select another scriber to write key points on the poster boards Plenary Discussion: • The facilitators of the three roundtables will share key points from two rounds of discussions
