2. TheLion’sHabitat Lions used to roam throughout southern Eurasia, Germany, Italy, Northern Asia, and even North America! But now, lions are almost entirely limited to Sub-Saharan Africa! This is because humans and lions “do not get along very well”, and the human population is growing.

What Lions Eat A lion’s food diet consists of big animals, such as hippopotamus, wild dogs, hyenas, giraffes, hippopotamus, Cape buffalo, cheetahs, leopards, rhinos, and sometimes, but only when food is scarce, elephants. It also consists of small animals, such as warthogs, reptiles, birds, cows, rodents, zebras, deer, antelopes, wild boar, gazelles, and wildebeest.

5. The Life of a Lion Baby lions, called cubs, are usually born as a part of a litter up to 4 siblings. For the first six weeks of their lives, cubs will hide in the tall grass, out of danger and stay close to their mother. After 6 weeks, they begin to eat meat and start to brave the world and play further from the den. Cubs will play with each other and mimic behaviors and strategies useful for hunting. Just before they’re a year old, they join their parents in the hunt. Then, at age two, the males start to grow manes, and get kicked out of the pride. Frequently, 2 or more males, usually brothers, will form an association, and hunt together, for the rest of their live. The females stay in the pride and if they prove themselves hunt worthy, they stay in the pride. Those who don’t become nomads.
