  2. Definition. • A skill is the purpose of linked sequences of movement. (Write an example of your own) • A technique is the ways of completing a skill. (Write an example of your own)

  3. Types of Skill • Skills can be: ‘OPEN’ or ‘CLOSED’ • Describe what is meant by an OPEN skill, and a CLOSED skill. • Give at least 3 examples for both.

  4. Types of Skill cont. • Skills can also be: ‘SIMPLE’ or ‘COMPLEX’ • Describe what is meant by a ‘SIMPLE’ skill and a ‘COMPLEX’ skill. • Give at least 3 examples for both.

  5. Ways of Learning. • Can you name the two different ways of learning a skill used in your course? 1) 2) • Give an example of ‘GRADUAL LEARNING’ and ‘WHOLE – PART – WHOLE’

  6. Methods of Practice. • There are 6 different methods of practice when learning and refining a skill. These are: 1) Solo practice. 2) Partner practice. 3) Repetition. 4) Shadow practice. 5) Opposed practice. 6) Unopposed practice. • Can you give examples of each of these types of practice, related to the activities in your course?

  7. Analysing a Skill. When we analyse a skill we break it into 3 sections. PREPERATION ACTION RECOVERY Think of a skill from an activity on your course, and describe the actions carried out in the three phases of the skill.
