Principles of effective practice To improve you must consider the following when practising: • Clear goals – know what you want to improve, be SMART • Work / rest ratio – High quality practise over a short time is best • Progression – Challenging practices that get gradually more difficult • Motivation / concentration – have the desire to succeed and be fully focused during training • Feedback – must be POSITIVE, accurate and given quickly. Can be intrinsic or extrinsic.
