  1. The MGM Vision • To seek and save the lost • To transform the saved • To restore the “C” Church to our community • To be the place people think of first when they need help • To launch the transformed into ministry, both internal and external

  2. Announcements • MGM Carnival – 9/12/09 See Lori for details • Retreat Center update • Prayer Team • Biker Sunday – 6/14 • Update on Eric • Missions trip to Louisiana 10/2-10/10

  3. I love it when a plan comes together 5-24-09

  4. Goals and Visions are good…. • Without plans, without actions, you will never reach a goal • We set personal goals that are lofty, high minded, out of this world • To win big, you have to think big (so they say) • Shoot for the stars – Space Jam reference • I believe I can fly

  5. Sometimes we think so big, that we can’t even comprehend where to start

  6. We underestimate the power of small – Linda Kaplan Thaler • She is the head of the Kaplan Thaler group of advertising • She started the organization in a 3rd floor apartment in 1997 • They used the bathtub as a filing cabinet with a sign that said “don’t turn on the water” • She now leads a multi-billion dollar firm • Her two primary weapons – Nice, Small

  7. An unknown insurance firm • Back in the 80’s, Linda Kaplan mentored an aspiring advertising student • 15 years later, she was given an opportunity • After hours of advertising mumbo jumbo, the president of the firm said “I just want people to remember the name of the company”

  8. History is made • Even the employees of the advertising firm can’t seem to remember the name • They use the name over and over again trying to make it stick in their heads • A pinched nose and a moment of creativity later – AFLAC becomes a household name

  9. Another quick example • Niagara Falls – Wouldn’t it be great if there were a bridge across it? • 1846 – permission was granted to build a bridge to William Hamilton Merritt • 800’ span • Not going to do it under water • Not going to do it via boat • Bow and arrow?, Missile?

  10. Go fly a kite • A contest is held to see who can fly a kite across the river - $5 grand prize • Homan Walsh – young boy from the US got his kite to fly all the way across • Tied his string to a more sturdy string • Tied that sturdy string to a wire cord • Tied that cord to a heavier cable • Tied that cable to a 120 strands of 10 ga wire • 2 years later, the first bridge was opened

  11. Not sure how to take your first steps? • If a task seems to big, if a project seems to large, if the leap seems to great • Start small! • Warren Buffett – I’d rather step over 7 - 1’ high obstacles than try to leap over 1 - 7’ high obstacle

  12. Bezalel and Aholiab – Exodus 37 • Charged with the craftsmanship of the tabernacle • How did they do it? – One item at a time • How does every great project get completed – one item at a time • Let’s look at the significance

  13. The “furniture” • The altar of incense – the prayers of Saints (Ex 30: 1-10) • Table of Showbread – God’s provision (Ex 25:23-30) • Gold Lampstand – Sheds light on the world (Ex 25:31-40) • Altar of Burnt Offering – The atoning sacrifice (Ex 27:1-8)

  14. The Bronze Laver – Cleansing that leads to purity before God (Ex 30:17-21) • The Ark of the Covenant – The promise of the presence of the Living God (Ex 25:10-22)

  15. Did they realize the significance? • Bezaliel and Aholiab were given charge to create the foreshadow of Jesus • How were they able to do it? • Exodus 31 • I have called them by name • Filled them with the ability • Led them, one step at a time

  16. Personally…. • Have you done anything since last week? • Have you stood your watch, set yourself on the rampart, are you watching to see what He says, are you answering obediently? • What investment have you made in your call, your ministry, your appointment this past week?

  17. As a church? • Remember the vision? • Seek and save the lost • Transform the saved • Restore the “C”hurch to your community • To be the place people go for help • To launch the transformed into ministry

  18. Our Prayer: Jesus, help us not to just be inspired to move forward in your plan for our life, but help us to make investment toward it. We know that we invest our time, talent, and treasure in the things we love the most. Help us to overcome the complacency of life that we may live “unsettled” unless we are sowing into what your call on our lives. And in Jesus Name we ask this….Amen
