Making Rock Candy Materials : -3 beakers -1 skewer -1 beakers of sugar -1 Bunsen burner / wire gauze -1 ring stand - safety eye wear for each person Background info: Solvent-water Solute-sugar Saturated solution when water can not boil more sugar Procedure: - lightly roll skewer in sugar, then set aside to dry - fill 1 beaker 2/3 full of water and boil -add half of the sugar to the water until dissolved -add second half of sugar, continue to boil until sugar Is dissolved
