Blizzards. By Tucker Shirley and a nd Madison McAdams. A blizzard is a long-lasting snowstorm with very strong winds and intense snowfall. You need three things to have a blizzard; cold air at the surface, lots of moisture, and lift. Warm air must rise over cold air.

  2. A blizzard is a long-lasting snowstorm with very strong winds and intense snowfall. You need three things to have a blizzard; cold air at the surface, lots of moisture, and lift. Warm air must rise over cold air.

  3. Why is snow white?Bright snow blinds us with its white color because it reflects beams of white light.

  4. Snow Crystals When snow crystals join together, they become snow flakes.

  5. Blizzards are Fast! Some blizzards can blow up to 35 miles per hour or more.

  6. Some people can die just inches from their door steps if the blizzard is bad enough. You might not be able to see your hand in front of your face if it’s snowing hard enough.

  8. Blizzard Safety Tips If there is a blizzard, stay inside! If you are stuck outside, stay in your car or find shelter. Keep moving! Clap your hands and jump up and down to stay warm! Don’t fall asleep!
